Hello everyone,

I just found a what used to be farm bike NS50f, the owner kept the paper and so I could bring her back to the road. I know everything is unobtainium about that bike but Im really looking for a gentle soul to drop a PDF version of the service manual if someone happenend to have one in hand. I do everything myself on bikes and I love having reliable service manual information when im puzzled by something.

Thanks !

Greetings,

Were Planning on running the "True Grits Fun Run" this year up in Suches Ga. on Oct 24th.
Got two of our bikes up and running with no problems but the NS50F wont start.
Was running fine about a month ago so Started checking it out and no spark!
We started checking on the web and found that the CDI module was a known problem
with them so went ahead and ordered one. Should be here next week.
As we dont have a manual we are guessing its probably located behind the flywheel
which will have to be removed. I have several pullers for different bikes which may or may not fit.
Just want to clarify location of the CDI module before tearing into it. Would appreciate a reply to confirm
its location as well as any other gotchas with the no spark issue.

Also if anyone else is planning on running the "True Grits" would appreciate a reply back.

Thanks
Ronnie G

Look back two posts in this thread, and you will see that motormike posted a link to the NS50F service manual. The link still works as of this minute. Click on the link and download the manual before going ahead.. look at page 15-2. You can get to the CDI without any special tools.

Thanks,

Vintagegarage and Motormike.

I Downloaded the NS50f manual and its Just what i needed.
I'm an old points, plug and condenser guy so the manual will sure help.
Just got the new CDI in so will be installing it soon.
We have a place in Helen so will be going over from there.
Hopefully the weather will be good for the "True Grits'.
Only finished it once in the last four years. My daughter has been going
also but not comfortable riding in the rain and mountains.
Hopefully this will be the year!

Thanks again

Hey guys and gals, I just managed to make a deal where I'm picking up an ns50 next weekend on a trade. Driving 17 hour round trip for it! I know parts for these are few and far between, but I thought I'd check here to see if I could get any advice on where I might find decals (as you can see it's missing the rear set,) and MAYBE even the radiator cowl? Many thanks in advance!

Thanks vintagegarage, I just bought the repro's you posted. After shipping costs from Buenos Aires, came to about $135 in case anyone was curious. Now, if only I can find that cowl! :bowrofl:

Nice one mm.. nicer than mine.. may have original mirrors that I was unable to find for mine.

Today is load up day for the Grits and tomorrow is drive to Atlanta day.. so far, I haven't started loading, and probably won't be driving up tomorrow.. just not into the drive up once again.

Pull up your big-boy panties and get that show on the road Vaughn.
I'm seeing the weather in Suches being reported as considerably better than last year.
I know how you must feel though.
Hard call to make when you doubt that the event will be worth the trip.
My back has been hurting for 5-6 days now.
I've struggled with the idea of going in pain, or staying home...in pain.
I'll be going.
Yes, today is load-up day, and I'll be picking up a rental truck at 3pm and filling it with scooters and gear.
Determined NOT to be thwarted by anything short of catastrophe.
See you there,...I hope... :urban:

TRUE GRITS UPDATE:

Greetings,
We Made The True Grits this year. Had some issues like truck broke down while heading there.
Got up early in Helen and it was pouring down rain. Sat around till about 10 and decided
to head on over to Suches when it started to clear. Had issues with the Kawasaki not running.
Slapped in a new plug and it fired right up. Great news all three bikes up and running at the same time!
Daughter was not comfortable riding as she had not been on the bike in a few years. She ran it up
and down the road a few times and was ready to go.
Daughter and I completed the course but the Honda Ns50 which Travis was riding only went about 20 feet and conked out.
Not sure what happened to it. We put in a new CDI earlier in the week and was running fine so suspect it was fuel related.
He worked on it in the pits hoping to join us but no luck.

Great news.
This was something my daughter and I wanted to do together for the last six years and we finally succeeded:-)
We are Planning on being back again next year.
Had a Fun Time.
