Hi guys I’m new here and have just bought a Gyro CANOPY having a TA01E Engine, try as I might I can find no information or shop manual covering this motor - or anything covering the Canopy in general.
I ask for help in finding such info but very much doubt if there is any...seems to be a true B-a-stard machine.

Here’s my 1993 TA02 Canopy:

that motor is basically an AF01 lead 50 engine with a different 3 rear wheel transmission. a real close cousin to the 83-84 ab07 aero 50 engine. all use 6004 crank bearings, same side oil pump, and crank shaft diameters

Harleyracer, Thanks for the info, one of my machines is a Lead 80 but this is a lead 50..... I’ll see if there is any coverage of these models in this part of the world.
This motor is really different to the two motors for which manuals (which I’ve got) are available, at moment I’m lucky that my motor is running perfectly.

I’ve just ordered a OE speedo cable for my Canopy as speedo is slow on starting so first thoughts are cable replacement, apart from that there appears to be little known of the 49cc TAO1E engine fitted to my Canopy, the whereabouts of same would be handy to have as a spare....? As would an English shop manual - but that’s Hen’s Teeth?
Also any address info who is able to supply spares - CMSnl excepted.

Great looking machine Squar...
Since this was never brought to USA, we are lost with no means to help you.
I know Japan has what you need, but trying to get things bought and shipped abroad
poses a real problem for most.
I have friends who use the website "WeBike" for JDM parts.
Having a contact in Japan or Taiwan seems to be the best way to achieve parts from there.
Best of luck sir...motor... :urban:

Hi Squar, I've had lots of luck using one-jp.com - search just using the engine code (TA01E) for the most hits. I have bought at least 50 parts from them over the year and have never had an issue. They do great packaging of your items and the shipping is fast (2-3 days). It's cheapest if you bid and win on several items and request combined shipping. Vladimir in customer service is great to work with too.

Nunnsie, Thanks a lot for the info, I’ll follow that link up, don’t often buy from Japan, last time I did was for Bridgestone Tyres for my Helix.
Q. How does one get parts without reference material to uplift from?
PS Tried in putting in jp.com, www.jp.com - zilch on both!

Motormike, Thanks for your info, I’ll keep looking for spares, all is running ok at moment so hope it will stay that way so that wife & I can enjoy it. Have always done all my own work on all my bikes but now at 82 with 2 past heart attacks, a loss of previous energy and now a bladder cancer being sorted I’m sort of stuffed!
Read all of your thread and very interesting it is, enthusiasm over there is very catching...! Ive caught it too...

According to Wikipedia the Gyro UP was powered by the TAO1E engine until 2008 when it was dropped and future production changed to a 4 stroke motor - so I should be able to find one off an UP ? Yes/No?

The TAO1E engine differs in having a vertical cylinder instead of a rearward facing (plug-on-end) one. Still hoping that someone can help....
By the bye, thank you Motormike for amending that word in one of my earlier mails, Appreciated!

After trolling around the web for a while I’ve found the supplier of most spares for the Canopy, all being from www.cmnsl.com in the Netherlands....
Anyone wanting such spares should go to: ‘Honda TC50 Gyro Canopy 2007(7) Japan TA02-200 parts’ where full parts Fische
Is available as are most parts.

The engine TA01E shown in an earlier post IS THE 2 Stroke ONE FITTED TO THE CANOPY .....
