1987 Honda Aero... Just purchased.. Please Help

Post by Driscollkn09 »

Good afternoon all.. I just purchased this 1987 Honda Aero 50 for $100. It is my new summer project. Never had a scooter before but after looking at new ones I decide I would really like to bring an older version back to life. The scooter runs good but as you can tell from the photos has a few cosmetic issues (to say the least). Can any one tell me anything about the scooter or does anyone have any general ideas where to start. Any idea what the scooter would be worth restored?

Thanks

Greetings:

Welcome, fellow Aerophile. I was where you are now in October of 2008. Flash Scootertrash, AKA Flash I is chronicled beginning here. That Aero eventually went 58.7 MPH with gearing and a pile of upgrades, painfully acquired. Modding for performance is a Slippery Slope, but cosmetic repairs are fun and (relatively) easy. I look forward to reading your progress.

I have noticed the slippery slope effect already. I have already spent a serious amount of time searching for parts and planning the next step. I look forward to the day the thing roars! I will continue to update the post as work progresses. The real question is, do you stay true to the vintage roots and kept the same color scheme or change it up?

Black or red are the most common color schemes. Although a White with blue is quite stunning. This is a very cool option for the rear signals as the replacements are difficult to find. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

I have a few of your parts as well PM if interested.

Do you have to modify in order for lens to fit?

Always great to here of another Aero being put back on the road!

I like wheels went through what you are now.

I went a little overboard with mine though....

I opted for a new color rather than stock to change it up a little.

Here is my thread... I have added pics of progress throughout it ....

Don't you have to mod the hanger clips to get it to stay on though?

That is one good looking machine. Did you paint it yourself? I want the paint to look good however I don't want to spend a ton of money having it done somewhere. Any tips?
