After some work, I got this girl going again. But now, the rear wheel is making noise, like cracks or pops. It is somewhat loose.

What should I start with? Could it be the main wheel connector or bearings? Does it have bearings?

Your help is appreciated it,

F

Ok.. I parked this repair for a while, not it is decision time! Do I fix it or do I craigslist it.

Well, I read a lot and I found out that it could be the final shaft bearing. so, it's time to take this girl apart.

I tight the * out of the wheel and nothing, the popping sound is still there.

Hey, when this scooter is ready, we will ride buddy...

Update:

( In case this helps someone out there)

I opened the transmission and the final shaft was very loose, it had a lot of play, so I am going to replace the bearing.

Taking it apart is not that difficult. I hope reassembly is just as easy and I don't end wiht "spare parts"

Once the screws are out, it is matter of moving the tranny cover with a screwdirver and it will come out.

I bought all the bearings and the final shaft seal ($75 total), because I don't want to put it back together and find out it's another bearing giving me a hard time.

"Specia"l tools :

A universal holder $25
Blind bearing puller, rented
Torque Wrench
Beer Opener

I will use a heat gun to heat the case and hopefully the bearings will just come out. For installation, it is recommended to freeze the bearings while heating the tranny case.

This will take some beers and effort,

F

Bingo!!

It was the final shaft bearing. I repace a few more bearings and the gasket.

However, this thing is running rough at low speeds. It shakes like crrrrrrrrrrrrrazy! It took a lot of water while waiting for hte parts and I don't know where to start.

I guess it will be a game of elimination.

Filter
Clean carb
Clean Sparkplug
Check gas

This is scooter is killing me, I bought it to ride it not to spend the whole darn day fixing it.

You do realize that all those bearings have numbers on them and if you go to either your local auto parts store or Bearing store you can get those same bearings for a quarter of what it cost from a dealer or online for that matter. The same applies to the seals, just remove it and take it to them and they will match it for peanuts.

Yes, I bought them online for a fraction of the "stealer" cost.

Ie, the final shaft bearing costs were.

Dealer $29

Online $9

The scooter took a * amount of water and it is running pretty darn rough on low speeds, sometimes it lacks of accelleration. I got a lot of water out of the filter box ( I had to take it apart and left it outside in the rain).

Anyway, the bearings part is a done deal.

I am afraid of water or dirt in the carb.

Or maybe I put that belt the wrong or did not provide enough torque to the clutch ( 25 ft-lb)

Well, well... time will tell.
