Finally finished restoring my 125. Now if I could just get it going a bit faster I'd be all set! Under the fresh paint is a US market NH125 with several JDM additions including wiring harness, dash, controls, turn signals, headlight and seat. There is still pinstriping to do and reattaching the spoilers. Like?

Beautiful 125.

I know every bike can be improved with more power, but is the Aero 125cc two stroke not already fast? What's the story?

Thank you. It tops out at about 55 (gps verified), but if I could get it to 65 reliably I could get rid of my larger Riva 180. I want to be able to take short rides on the freeway around my house (55 speed limit) without feeling I'm in the way. I could even start taking it to work, which would be awesome! From what I've read so far it sounds like I'll need a larger carb and intake for starters. Onward with the research!

Thank you, cosmetically I'm really happy with it now! Wish it were running better though. Over the last week it's become next to impossible to start and is stalling/backfiring if I run it at top speed with the throttle more than a touch open. There's more than one thing going on here but I'll see what I can figure out over the weekend.

One interesting tidbit on the dashboard: at 50 km/h the needle turns red I guess as some sort of speed warning.

The carb was clean and the gas tank had been recently sealed, so I suspected the fuel valve was to blame. I took it apart, cleaned it but the issue persisted. I decided to try replacing the float valve, which always looked a bit worn, and bingo! Problem solved. Incredible such a tiny thing can cause so much trouble. As for the hard starts I suspect the bystarter was sticking. Happy trails!!
