New Elite SR
I sold my 86 spree on friday and was planning on driving 2 hours north to pick up a 97 elite s when this 92 Elite SR SA50N II with 800 miles on it popped up on craigslist. Emailed the guy last night to see if it had a title. Luckily he emailed me back before I left for my road trip. Stopped to check it out and just had to pick it up. So much quicker off the line than my spree and just has an overall higher top speed. Planning a variator mod and maybe some other things. Would really like to 50 mph which should be pretty do-able. So glad I don't have to deal with de-restricting it. Also to bad the dmv's aren't open on Saturdays.
Any suggestions for mods??? I was going to have another user order me the ruima variartor? opions on those? I guess I want to be able to do 50 and if possible not mess with premixing but would if I needed to.

Re: New Elite SR
Has anyone done 50 on a 92 afo5 without a bbk? i would say ruck vari with met wheel and 10.2 gears can run a solid 50mph. i dont think the stock engine has enough power to push up to 50.

Yes it is a great ped. Happy I mad the switch but now its time to go faster.
Can you guys comment on a variator to get? I am thinking of just going with the ruckus variator. Along with that possibly the SEF ramp plate. Possibly some gears? Any ideas where I can find some of those. I was told 9:1 is a good ratio.

Re: New Elite SR
Greetings:
A used Ruck vario should be a cheap and genuine upgrade. 9:1 gears can only be installed on your '92 if you convert the whole transmission to a '94-later SA16 setup, and even then you'll need to deepen the countershaft socket, if I recall TrafficJamz's process correctly. With those gears, stock-ish power should reach close to 50 MPH if everything is well-tuned. IF you can score 10:1s, it might go 45-ish.

Re: New Elite SR
Sef plate does not fit ruck vari. met wheel is 90/90-10. that ups the ground speed. u can grind down the af16 shaft to fit the af05 case instead of doing case work.

Dude , don't waste time on mod afo5e , just like throwing money in the drain holes. Get a dio motor. Has 2 pieces kicker covers. It is direct bolt on motor swap..

Greetings:
I usually agree with veedubh20, but not on this.
If you find a good AF16 block, it will cost a good bit of money. You already have a decent block. There's nothing much wrong with the 05, and plenty of mods available to make it a lusty 65cc. Mine was good for a GPS-verified 58.6 MPH in less-than-optimal conditions. I'm fairly confident it ran 60 on a couple of other occasions, just didn't have Garmin-Girl along for the ride.
Yes, an AF16 can be made much faster, but you don't have one of those. You DO have your 05 and the fun is in the modding anyway.

You should put up some non 80's decals on that sucker and give it a modernized look.
