Tires and Speed..

Post by Justin80 »

Stock 86 spree here..

I see some people have 2.5-10 and 2.75 and 3-10 tires.

How do these effect your speed, and, do they all fit a stock spree?

the higher the number, the wider and taller it is. the taller tire will increase topend speed due to the longer rollout. you can fit a 3.00x10 tire on a spree. thats about the biggest you can put without having to do and major mods to the case.plus it gives a better ride due to the taller sidewall flex.

Sounds like a no-brainer then!

What's a good place to order tires from?

I just put new tires on my 87 this week and went with a 2.75 rear and woulda probably gone with a 3.0 but they didnt have one in stock local. and its a night and day ride.. been cruising easily at 33 and with some help been hitting 35. which is a big jump from my normal range of top 30. so definately worth the bigger tire

Can a 3.0 fit on the front of a Spree too, or just the rear?

3.00 tires in some brands may rub the air box/fender of the spree. :nervous:

3.00 tires will not fit the front of a spree in any brand that I Know of.

Stick with 2.75 tires if it is a spree :imo:

I asked b/c I'll be swapping in a AF05 in my spree. So that should allow me to run 3.0's front and rear no problem, right?

Why would swapping a different motor in the rear change how much room there is for a tire on the front?

What he said.

The fat 3.0 tire can not fit between the skinny spree front forks.

Whoops! I misread what you typed

I thought you had said it would fit the front, but not the rear.
