new here!

Post by a11drewp »

hey new to the forums and to the scooters. i just picked up a 87 elite S. vin tag says se50 and trans is stamped 05e. the scoot came with a leo vince zx pipe welded to stock head pipe and a gauze type filter on the carb. ive read up on the forum and think i have a good idea of what to do to make it faster but i need input from guys on here. i took the plate off the back of the ramp plate, rollers have flat spots, dont know if its been rejetted can get up to 35mph all day, can peg it down hills but i hear 50mhp and i want it. i need someone to tell me exactly what to do to it and was wondering if anyone is in the portland or beaverton area. Thanks
Andy

first thing you really need to do is get those crappy 10:1 gears out of there, ship them to me and i'll send you the gears from my aero50 ;)
jk. nice score. im actually trying to talk a guy down from $600 on his 87 se50.

check out the wiki for the elite upgrade path, yours will be very similar to the aero50 since they share the same engine, in fact, most parts are swappable.

yeah looks like they used a minarelli leo zx pipe and made it fit. the 87 elite 50 that came with the 10to1 gears will do 45mph on the flat with the restrictions off. with an aftermarket variator and milled head ,50mph is not out of the question. yes this is on a stock bore, stock non restricted exhaust, stock carb and airbox. If you want more power and a faster topend then your next step is to swap a dio motor in. then you have alot of options and topspeed can get to 80mph +

daywot on ebay has many upgrades for your bike.
no pipes though.
here's a link to his page

might have to snag the plastics off another forum member or go w/o.

vtcycles from the islands dont have pics, but they've got top notch parts heres a link to their se50 parts

I wish I could. I dont even have time to work on my own bikes. I still have a street scoot that I haven't finished yet putting back together for me to ride around town.
