Tube on carburetor not connect to anything. (CH80)

Post by phant0m0o0o »

Just wondering what this tube connected to nothing on the carburetor is. Also is the vacuum hose from the petcock suppose to attach to the airbox? Thanks!

Float bowl vent. Leave it open or the fuel system will malfunction.

Thanks a lot. Just got this honda elite 80 for 140. Seems like previous owner did a lot of things wrong, lots of nuts and screws lost and spray painted the scooter badly lol. I have the manual but it doesn't seem to be in depth. Hopefully I can get this running again! If anyone can let me know if the vacuum hose from the petcock goes to the airbox that would be great. Thanks! :D

P.S. - This is my first scooter. Hopefully this is a good one!

hm... i cant seem to find that piece on my 86 elite. Is it suppose to be connected to the carb? I have an airbox directly connected to it.

Ahhhh perfect. I thought it was that but it was covered with a plastic cap. Hm... why is this cap here? Thanks a lot!

The Elite 80 is a 4 stroke and they plumb the crap out of them to satisfy the EPA, * they even have an PCV system just like a car engine. I have no idea where the vacuum for the petcock goes and the manual is NO help.

This diagram puts the petcock vacuum line's approximate location on the other side of the carb from the airbox.

This shows the difference between my 1985 CH 80 and the 1996 in your link.....not sure which one the phantom owns.....point of interest to consider.....either way, phantom has found the vacuum tap.....he'll be back soon, no doubt......... :urban:

Right now its working from the plastic connector piece between the manifold and carb, however it had a plastic plug on it. Since its working I am just going to keep it. The airbox does have a nipple to plug in but I am unsure of whether that is the correct one. Seems more like an air inlet to me. I own a 1986 honda elite. Cap may have been put on by previous owner who has done many stupid things to the scooter. Anyone want to give insight as to whether removing the back plating to the variator on the 80cc model will improve max mph? I keep seeing that it will on 50cc hoping it will do the same on this one.

Also sorry so many questions, previous owner used this scooter like it was a two stroke.... what damages can I expect from that? Thanks! Just put in 11g mr pulley sliders, belt, brakes hoses, but the petcock is leaking slightly, like a drip every hour. I took it apart and noticed there is no o-ring. I think there is suppose to be one >_<
