looking at a two stroke scooter

Post by Trafficjamz »

I saw a 2005 united motors scooter for sale but don't know much about them.

It seems to have a minarelli engine but i could be wrong.

anyone heard any thing about these scooters, good or bad?

I know zero about United Motors.

Quick search gave this link - one model claims Minarelli based engine.

Theres a kid in town with one just like that. I havent had him over yet to rip into it and check it out. He does have an alarm on it and remote start but it seems pretty stock otherwise. Kinda fast with a 120lbs kid.

Its a Jog Clone. Good engine, but the scooter itself isnt that great of a build. One of my friends got one a few years back and starter went out 3 times in 1 year.

well i got it for $200

Its beat up but not too bad.

The plastics are cheap plastic typical Chinese garbage

But i does seem to be a jog type engine but a long case with a 12" wheel.

Can these yamaha clones be turned in to speed demons or did i just waste some cash?

The 12 " wheel case is the same thing as a AF18 long case to a AF16 short. Its a fast engine, I think the gearing is like 14:1. They rev really high, and have a good amount of low end. Youre gonna spend as much on it as the elite, Oh and spark plug changes are fun on those engines, lol. Its right up in there, and the engine mount may go thru the area by the intake also, so its fun taking the engine out. Now Im basing this off of my friends Jog clone with the 12" wheels also.
My friend runs an expansion pipe, bigger main jet, and a stock air box with holes in it, completely destroys my hondas and kymcos. I saw someone post they loose power higher up, but me on my kymco with the MHR 72cc tons of *, my friend at 49cc at 50 mph, we punched it and he hung with no problem. Seriously no problem. Both stock gearing.
For $200 you got a good deal, it will run forever if you keep it stock and still be quite fast. If you plan on selling it let me know Ill buy it.

The wrist pin is 12mm
The crank bearings were not junk just needed to be gone through and cleaned really well.

The electric start seemed to be rusted, causing the crank to be hard to spin.

Ive torn the whole thing apart and cleaned it all up.
