Thanks gang :thumbwink:
I finally took out the rubber seal and it is working ok now.
Did 20 kms and 5 restarts. Everything is working as it should.
That's great - glad your Aero is back to perfect starts and warm-up. Bystarter is a component Honda got right in the 80's and did much for the easy/quick start reputation.

Did you have a look at the little video I did on the air pressure leak?
I am assuming we could use it as an indication to test the acceptable air leak on the bystarter circuit.
If it leaks faster (a bit...) than that, it means your bystarter isn't closing ENOUGH.

Glad you pointed the video out. I missed it until you mentioned there was a video. My browser showed no indication it was a video. That looks helpful, I'll see about getting it onto the 'wiki.

Also, got to like the crisp start-up video you posted below the bystarter test. Just like new;)

Well, still alive and kicking.

A couple of weeks ago I put TT back on the road. Had it sleeping since october 2014.
I went to a moped meeting in center of France, so had to put it in pieces to get it in the Volvo station wagon. Back from the meeting got lazy and didn't want to clean it and put it back together...

Anyways. Done now.
I flushed the tranny again. I now have 6940 kms on the odo. Last flush was done at 3631 kms back in october...2013!

It's a racing moped for official races. The rules say that you have to stay, besides other rules, under 49.9 cc
It must be very fast.

I have pictured the tech specs if interested.

Bonjour:

Nettoiage incroyable! C'est le pur amour du scooter ou un peu obsessif, en tout cas un beau travail, felicitations!

I guess I've never gone very long without opening up the gear case to change gears or some dang thing, so the useful life of the gear oil has never occurred to me. Those gears have an easy life, never get all that hot compared to a motorcycle where Internal Combustion is going on a few centimeters ahead.

Not sure what the Manual says, but I'd guess 15, 000 km. The appearance of the oil gets ugly in just a few hundred miles, but that doesn't seem to affect its useful lubricating ability.

I don't think the manual says anything about flushing the tranny.
There is no drain plug first thing...says it all.
To flush it, I have to put it straight front wheel pointing to the sky and tilt it on the LHS...

Thanks for your feedback.
The cost of the oil change and the time it takes...I'll keep on flushing it every 3000 kms or so.
Won't do any harm.

I'll have to check the belt one of these days too...it is still the 1986 original 7000 kms one!

Very nice french writting! F├®licitations!

Hi everyone.
Update for news :
Last november some kind of a sucker hit me face on and ruined my scoot (and badly bruised my knees too).
The mudguard, front face where badly broken.
The chassis had nothing, neither the fork.
Hopefully, the d*ckhead was insured and they paid for everything up to my expectations.
No spare parts to be found, no stickers, no nothin' bro'...

What to do? Write it off (destruction)? The insurance offered to repair it up to 1000 Euros. That is a heck of a lot of money, because the market price is around 250/400 Euros for these scoots here. And at that price, you get something looking really tired.

So, had a guy I know do a pricing for a full repaint, redoing ALL the stickers, reparing the fairings etc...make it new!
He asked for 1200Ôé¼...they discussed with the insurance knowning I did not want to have it salvaged/destructed. And I insisted on my wanting it to be as new after repair.
We setteled on 994 Euros so that the insurance said ok, go for it.

I just picked it up yesterday!!! I took forever...
The stickers were scanned. Badly made. I showed my anger...
They did it over again 3 times before I said okay!
All the stickers were done, even the "Helmet Holder", "tire pressure", warnings...etc. Everything.
All the black parts were repaired if needed (soldered, reinforced, staples...), painted black, then the stickers put on, and finally I asked them to put 2 coats of clear coat to protect paint AND stickers (which is not the way it's done out of the factory...so it's better than new now).
The guy also sanded and painted the plastic fork protectors (they were slightly scrapped), the plastic exhaust protection (scrapped) and painted the exhaust and the LHS crankcase (also lightly sanded) only were needed (verrrrry lightly scraped underneath).

The top box was also painted (black plastic embedded color). But they didn't accept to copy and print the Rickman stickers on it because were we limited to 1000 Euros (sticker operation was over 200Ôé¼ alone...if I recall well : 300Ôé¼. Don't have the prices because the invoice was for the insurance :bump: ).

I know have what I think is the cleanest Honda in France or Europe...

I'll do a shooting next, but here is are some pictures. I have yet to clean it up...

Almost there (I did the rear part because the mechanic was to busy on other projects...) :

Fun time!
Image

It started up with 3 trys on the electric starter (to make the gas come in the carb) and 3 kicks. And I rode it home just as if it had never been stopped for 10 months. I had the battery at home on a little maintenance charger (I had just changed it 3 days before the accident).
So know it's got around 7600 kilometers and still looking new!
