good scooter for 100 lb girl?

Post by scottorious »

My gf has currently an 87 aero 50 which runs really well and is pretty quick with her on it. I am deep into a 150 build in hopes to have a little more reach outside of the 35 mph zones. I was wondering if anyone thinks a DIO motor swap with some slight mods could put her at a 55 mph cruising speed, the stock AF05E motor cruises with her on it around 44 mph. She has ridden our friends CH80 and says it seems heavy, which it really is not but in relation to her aero it is kind of a pig. I Just didnt know how these two strokes do at sustained high speeds. I want super reliability as top speed performance isnt really what she wants. She is only 100 pounds so I dont think it should be too hard to get her up to speed.

Maybe I should re-phrase my question, whats a good lightweight scooter that can cruise comfortably at 55. Drum brakes are in the ch150 and they stop just fine. I occasionally ride the thing and im 200 lbs and on occasion have 30 pounds of books. I think it stops pretty quick with me on it. Thats from a speed that I dont even know, the rode down to my house is a slight downhill and when you tuck I can bury the needle and then it stops just fine. With half the weight I think the stock brakes will work fine. if not the aero do the more modern elites cruise reliably at speed.

Hopping up 2 wheeled vehicles for girlfriends often turns out bad.
If you really care for her, you will leave the Aero alone.
45 mph seems fast enough to me.
If she needs to go faster, buy her a car.

Put taller gears in the girlfriends aero.

That will increase the top speed.

Drum brakes work just fine to stop these scooters.......especially with a 100lbs rider.

disc brakes are more likely to lock up and cause an accident
