So we've discussed trailers and hitch haulers and rooftops and... several mothods for hauling scoots but I've often wondered about these little receiver wheel chucks:

Has anyone used something like this for a srooter? I am tempted to try it.

Pros:
Easier to store than a hitch rack.
Does not interfere with the tailgate when the bike is removed.
Keeps the bike away from the truck so I don't loosen the wrong strap and cause scratches.
Could easily be used with a dirtbike.

Cons:
Scooter wheel wear.
Possible angle issues with the scooter? (Tanks spilling fluids...)
The wheel chuck may not fit the little spree wheels nor clear the low body panels.
Too close to the truck? (Road debris issues)

How fast do you think you can tow that back wheel with the belt floppin around in there?

The belt won't be an issue because the clutch won't be engaged. The rear wheel and the gears will face unnecessary wear. Either the bearings or tire would be the first to go IMO.

My plan is 55mph Max. Rising it to transport around/between town.

Why not just buy a cheap trailer?I would use a hitch mounted carrier with a ramp. I realize you wouldn't be able to put the tailgate down but it is easy to take off and put back on for the few times you would have to.

I have a trailor and a hitch rack with ramp. This will be at least weekly use in the summer, maybe daily.

this is a good option..
That extendable ramp is slick. Have you had any problems with the 200# weight limit? A stock Ruckus or Zuma ('02-current) weighs over that.

For $399, the roll-on carrier that veedubh20 posted beats the first one by keeping the whole bike off the road surface.
Not a fan of spinning gears and such...I can't imagine either one being any easier than my trailer though.
More importantly, if a strap fails while bike is on my trailer,
it will likely not go bouncing and flipping down the road behind me.... :thumbwink:
I  my trailer...

Scooter/bike on front of vehicle is extreme....maybe with a boat/camper in tow and some additional lighting it works, but only just...
