Ok, we've got your point. I've never had issue that someone has done it before. <shrug>

Intent is to contain info for building, fixing and info on member built and commercial accessories.

Where's some info from HI? :hi:
Please post pics you have on grab bars. HI has lots of hidden goodies, what do you have on cargo hauling?
Also please post links and price on grab bars, there's members who want them

While I'm getting the baskets shown earlier ready for re-coat, Here's some pics of Gyros

First one is a Gyro UP. This model is built for hauling. For this thread it's  . 66Six has one of these, maybe he'll show us what his carries.

While thinking of 66Six, I remember he added on racks and storage to his 1985 Gyro

-- Cargo hook --
A ways back a member added a coat hook on his Spree leg shield. That is a great addition and easy to find. A downside is the coat hook stuck out quite a ways exposing it to being bumped/bent.

I bent a lower profile hook as an klutz example. Show us your hooks and what you carry when you make one.

BTW - 'Cargo' in the pics are props only. Judge what's reasonable for your scooter, foot size.

Greetings:

Brilliant idea, Mr. Mouse. Another way is to thread the grocery bag around the helmet lock under the saddle. I've been known to ride home with as many as three bags. Embarassing, unladylike riding posture, however...

Good tip :thumbwink:

Here's example diagrams of the helmet holder
Some models have a loose helmet holder hook, which may have been lost over the years.

-- Spree front rack --
The Spree front rack was a component which Honda used to mount a basket. Having a front rack makes for easy mounting of other baskets too. The rack is fairly rare on Sprees seen here. We will get photos, dimensions and build a replica in this portion of the thread so you may build a replica.

Thanks and appreciation to Martynkim who donated the rack and black horn cover for photos

-- Front rack and examples pics of baskets --
1) Chrome rack is in great shape, but there is a missing component. It can be seen in the lower right pic of member Abreen's front rack. There should be a metal plate at the rack front with bolt holes to mount the OEM Spree basket

2) Basket in pics 5, 6 is a low cost item ($10) from a local home storage store. I've had this on a moped, its handy and small, yet covers mail pickup and delivery of books etc and Coke runs.

3) Basket in pics 4 and 7 are the Sym basket shown earlier in the thread.

3) The Honda basket shown in pic 8 is an Aero 50. This will fit the Spree rack, but the mounts are un-used. It's a reasonable choice if a Spree specific basket is not located.

Here's a front rack built by a member around 2010. Original thread is now missing photos. I have only one photo grabbed from years back.
I was built from hydraulic line rather than solid bar stock, so it's lighter than it looks.

vintagegarage made some racks for his Elite ES and Spree, great job! Check his build thread at the link below

Another find by vintagegarage was the Aero80 front rack. It is fancier than the Aero50 - adding a spring loaded 'rat trap' cargo hold down, a crossbar on the lower 1/3 of rack which has hooks for bungee cords. Also a curious set of threaded holes at the top.

Check out vintagegarage's thread here: http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewto ... 0&p=312458

vintagegarage said the mount fit 50cc scooters he'd tried. I wondered what it would look like on a 98-01 Elite SA 50 so bought one to try.

I was going to modify the Aero 80 rack to move the mounts and shorten overall height to fit a 1984 NN50 Gyro.

I just want a flat rack to mount a bag - like the way bicycle panniers mount. So the bottom shelf and spring were going to be cut off. Also to fit the NN50 both mounts were going to be re-positioned. Seemed a shame to cut up a rack some Aero 80 fan might want.

So, I traced the Aero 80 rack, made the required adjustments and bent up a rack.

The parts were bent up to match the drawing. The black ruler is a mounting hole jig
made by fitting up to the NN50 which the rack will be mounted to.

For this rack I wanted to try brazing, so the joints need to be closely fitted for strength

A couple test joints were made to find a good torch tip size and settings.
I guess the joint has too much brazing rod added, but it sure flowed well.

A jig to hold the rack mounts steady was made
