Help!! Scooter Hoarder buried alive

Post by Trafficjamz »

I need help. I have been collecting scooter parts for too long now, and am getting overwhelmed with the growing mess of scooter parts everywhere.

I need suggestions on how to organize my scooter parts better.

Generic tricks:
IDK - 'Jamz - you've probably got this covered, but there's always a new scooter nut :)

Hang plastics from the ceiling to keep from being damaged, and to store vertically to save space.
A loft or even shelves under joists can hold a lot of bins for small parts

Keeping parts scooters populated as full as possible from reserve stores is good. Parts scooters often take up as much space as a full scooter. By re-populating, the correct model/year can be managed without tagging, bagging and possibly a computer database to track what box they are in, just match up year to the VIN tag and bolt on :)

On a larger scale a daydream would be a dedicated scooter barn, with garage doors instead of an open carport.:)

Traffic,

I am afraid I am of no help as well. I have atleast 8 now within a single car garage/ fab shop. Full of more tools than should be in there. I have to move scooters to use my shop. I dont like getting rid of them. I am like a cat person but with scooters.

Greetings:

Recently moved out of Casa Wheelman in Deepinnaharta, Texas for full-time residence in Yellarosa. The experience of throwing stuff out was liberating. I recommend it.

Order a half-size Dumpster parked outside your shop. Consider:
1. The part's value on the scooter market.
2. Its rarity.
3. The ease of finding a replacement in the event of need.
4. The length of time since last touched.
5. The likelihood of needing the part.
6. How hard it Is to get it out of the way, while remembering where it is.

I sold or gave away everything that someone could use. Kept spare gaskets, bolts in a single plastic drawer case, rollers, bosses, shims, you get the idea.

If you find yourself unable to part with the truly useless, the yiu are indeed a Hoarder, and need Professional help. Stock up on cat food now. :)

Im up to 17 scooters, I spread them out between 3 garages and my basement, recently had a garage built for the "home" bikes and the supra. To me shelving is essential, with a mess like that you need shelving for sure. I strip bikes I dont plan on using and label them with masking tape and a sharpie then shelf them.

What I was looking for was input on a system of categorization when parting out bikes.

I really do need to thin out my collection of stuff.

I would like to get myself down to maybe just four scooters.....for me. My daughters scooter and my wifes two scooters do not count.

I will need two 72cc daily drivers. One malossi and one pollini
And then Two race bikes. One mini stroker and one full stroker.

I feel your pain Traffic. I am thinking about the same(cutting down to 4 bikes. With this being said, I bought a 1997 CH80 yesterday. I am still in Afghanistan buying these things. I have my brother in laws pick them up and stuff them in my garage. I am not into the 4T but it was 280.00 bucks and runs like a champ. Man they are ugly compared to a SA50, even with a bag of there head..
