7 hours to install a big bore kit? Do they think its a 4 cylinder cbr900? He needs to give out the number of the shop so we can all call them and ask them how much it is to refill the blinker fluid on my Harley.

Greetings:

Yup, it seems some Dealers are sending their kids to school for a better life - not mis-spent jacking with scooters... These guys'll charge $45 to adjust your mirrors, it seems. But they gotta eat too. Fortunately, at least in the case of these simple single-cylinder Smokers, even simple-minded people such as myself can learn to work on 'em and do a much better job. Your buddy could probably do it if he got some Gumption - and a few cheap simple hand tools.

That sounds like a shop that diddnt want to do the work and instead of saying no they just quoted a stupid high price.

X2, if a shop turns business away, they can't say they work on all hondas.

I would rather a shop tell me what I wanted to do to a machine was just not somthing they want to do, not a good fit for their shop kinda thing. To me the truth is better for business, in my line of work if somthing is out of my range of what I do I say so. I politely tell my customer that what they are looking for from me is out of the scope of what I do. Then help them find someone that can better fulfill their needs. This goes for my audio install and such and also goes for repair business I do and have done in the past. Been in the repair business for a long time. Musical instruments and sound systems for 18 years. I had the local golf cart shop tell my buddy that his 1984 yamaha golf cart was going to take $1700 to repair, $700 in parts and $1000 in labour. I put in a $250 top end from ebay in a couple hours and ive been driving the cart every day since august last summer. They just wanted him to buy a brand new cart because they thought quoting a high repair cost would do that. Luckily he diddnt just fall off the turnip truck ;-)
