UNI-Filter security

Post by motormike »

I have UNI filter on my Aero 125.
the first RED OUTER SLEEVE disappeared without reason.
I wondered if it was "lifted" by an unscrupulous passer-by,
or did it just get flung into the universe by the massive air pressure created by Ruby's blazing speed.
Either way, and now, a SECOND sleeve has managed to wriggle it's way free.
ANY suggestions to secure this sleeve to the filter body and end this exodus of expensive foam cylinders ??

Greetings:

Yeah, the red bit tends to blow off randomly. I once tried a few spots of contact cement to wed the twain but the oil in the sponge prevents stickage, even on a new unit. If I still had one I would consider a small zip-tie through both layers.

Ya Really the Red cover is for off road vehicles. Just a dust cover. Easier to clean between rides and between full air filter cleaning.

But its pretty easy to get creative about making sure it doesnt come off.

I may have used a couple paper clips before.

I have found that hot glue works well to hold filter foam together.

Try 2 zip ties? If you can make em tight it'd be hard to come off.
Black 85 Spree-SOLD

Red 87 Spree... Ended up buying the same one mentioned below.

I started riding my uncle's 87 Spree at the drag strip when I was 8...

It's easier to stop caring three years ago than it is to fix it in present time.

I usually loose the whole filter, I started tieing a string to mine. The paper clip worked good to hold them together for me.
