Yeah Met with a dio sounds good to me too. The honda jazz same as the met here in Nova Scotia are plentiful. Not cheap though. Usually around 1200 to 1500 used. Funny thing is I see lots of those scoots for sale but never see them out on the road.

hi pat. I think the metro is one of Honda's best scoots. it's just a little slow.
my friend has a 2002 metro with over 100,000k miles :surprise: and still ride it.
Did you notice the blue hitch by the rear wheel. LOL. sometimes he takes off for weeks to go camping.

hi G. he is over 100k. he bought it new in 2002. the first year he put over 15k lol. we are in 2014 now.
he averages over 10,000 a year. my guess the Metro has just over 120,000.
I did ask him how many sets of tires he went through. he laughs at me.
this is what I know its all original. The first year the main bearings were replaced under warranty.
the brakes are metal to metal. the valves have never been adjusted. at this point he doesn't care anymore. I tell him I give him the parts for free. He said he's had it so long he doesn't want to do anything to it.
he's thinking about buying a ruckus with the same motor.
he's an older gentleman that stops by my place to talk about scooters. And he only cares about miles per gallon., Not speed. LOL

Greetings:

You had me until the part about no valve adjustment in 100,000+ miles. I call BS on that one. Someone SOMEtime had to tinker with the clearance or it wouldn't run today. CT70 (Yes, I know things have improved since 1971... but not THAT much!) lost almost all compression at about 15K. If you don't address the valves, the seats will burn out. First-hand Honda experience here, and yes, I had it when it was new. I'm that old.

yes wheelman that is a lot miles without an adjustment.
but that's what he's told me. He has lost a lot of compression and can only go about 30 miles per hour. the Metro uses shims for valve adjustment. He is in desperate need of one.
when I get a chance I'll take a photo of his grips they're very worn down without Nubs. Lol
the motor bushings are gone. The shock is dead, he wrapped a rubber bicycle tube around the shock for support. Brakes are metal to metal. The key doesn't work anymore in the fuel tank. when he stops by I'll take a photo of these items.
did he secretly have a valve adjustment? Hel* no! he's too cheap for that lol.

Hi wheelman. Yes the c70 c90 are bulletproof. this Metro has them beat.
so I called my friend up ask him about his metro.
I can't believe it but the original battery from 2002 died last year. I asked him how?
he said he always kept the lights off with a toggle switch. I will have to take a photo of that battery. There must be a date on it?
he lost track of how many tires he bought.
I saw the mileage the first year he did roll it over.
even though he owns a van, he only drove the metro. he said he averaged over 10,000 a year.
no documentation but the wear and tear must tell something. Can't wait to take some photos and post them up.
me knowing the way this guy drives "slow" I say he has 100,000 plus miles.
I did help him remove the restrictor plate on the carb. The first year.
he owns the 2002 Metropolitan 2 which is the 20 mph moped. and drives slow no rush in the world.
