Parts crossover

Post by whitey »

Has anyone used parts from other engine types on their dio/elite? I noticed that dio, piaggio, puegot, garelli, morini, and derbi all share the same cylinder stud spacing and have similar strokes. Some need major spacing but others are very close. For instance, I have a Honda hobbit that I put an aftermarket full circle 12mm crank in, and with the help of a custom 5mm spacer added a LC Stage6 race cylinder made for Piaggio. I had to cut the stage6 pipe for Piaggio at one of the sections and rotate it and reweld for it to fit the moped frame. I have a LC Puegot MHR cylinder and a maliguti mhr pipe for another hobbit build ready for assembly. This Puegot cylinder has three exhaust ports and looks nearly identical to my dio mhr cylinder. A couple of my friends are putting Derbi Metrkits on thier Hobbits. Many of us have ruckus variators and Met wheels, but what else fits and performs?
