I'm elnutty I've been creeping around for a while and decided to join ,after I picked a 2001 sr 50 with 187 original miles ! Then my buddy hooked me up with a Polini cortessa bbk kit he had bought for a project and never used not sure If I'm going to run it ! Thinking about selling this scooter and buying a beater instead .This pic is from when I bought it the other day its a little dusty ,was stored in a garage in modesto ca and only ridden around a gated community and has never been on public streets was last registered in 2005

I have its twin with 210 miles now on mine. You should just keep it and modify it. If you get a beater you might be spending more and more just to get it up to date.

My plans if I ever had an elite were to make it go pretty good (55+), stretched and lowered and also wild paint ( flake ,candy , lace and patterns ) I would sort of feel bad doing it to such a nice one but would probably get over it !!

I respect your way of thinking...
Your absolute luck in finding such a low mile gem should never result
in it's immediate plundering.
By all means, pass it along at a profit to the next person who also respects your choice,
and does so by paying well for it.
Then find that beater, throw money at it, and make your statement
or whatever....

I have built 3 scooters. My Yamaha zuma was brand new, then stolen and trashed. I began modifying after it was trashed. Second was a brand new Aprilia sr50 that I modified and lost my * on in the end.
Lastly was my current elite which was a pile of incomplete parts when I got it.

Its much more rewarding to modify a turd than a nice scooter imo. When you make something out of nothing you dont have much to lose. When you tear down a nice and running stock bike and things dont turn out well its very discouraging.

Yet all these people strive so hard to make their turds into gems. And here sits a gem waiting to be greater. It doesn't matter if you modify a turd or a brand new bike you will never ever get your money back and lose your rear.
Seems back aswards to sell it to get a turd and start the process over. How much did you pay for your elite? I paid 600 for mine with 122 miles on it. Mines somewhere on here under another handle.
Honda elites are meant to be rode not sit in a storage shed. In the end their resale value isn't that of a 54 motoguzzi, it's that of a honda elite sa50.

Mod that bad boy! Starting with a nice scoot makes all the little problems no existent, no wiring problems, all the lights/blinkers work and have there covers, good seat, non rusty gas tank, good bearings, straight forks, all not fun things to have to fix when you start with a turd. Like 1M8S said no matter what you start with the resale value is going to be the same in the end. Just have fun with it and make it yours.

Well the scooter has been untouched since April so I think I might put it up for sale ! I only made is as far as taking off a couple of panels and it comes with a un-installed Polinni B.B.C ! And It also started right up first try with the starter button !
