Seeking better rear rim/wheel/tire combo for Elite E

Post by bushfax »

can anyone recommend a better rear rim/wheel/tire combo that will fit a Honda elite 5occ? i am having a hard time keeping air in my rear tire. i have had 3 flats since purchase. i think it is because the rim is too skinny or has too many burrs on it and keeps puncturing tubes. i am looking for a cheap replacement, perhaps off of a Chinese scooter??? does anyone have any experience with this? where can i find a cheap replacement rim, or better yet rim and tire combo? cheapest on ebay is around $100 for a used one. i imagine i can source one that is the same size off of a Chinese scooter, as the oem honda rim is just too expensive. any advice is much appreciated. thanks j

As far as anyone knows, there are no Chinese clone wheel/rims. The Honda Metropolitan wheel is about all there is unless you want to spend lots of money. Maybe get one from a Daelim Cordi, but it's not made in China either.

Why do you want something Chinese any way? Metro rims are a great upgrade and a fairly cheap.

iam not against having a metro rim and tire, they're just expensive and i want a few of them so i have a spare. i have purchased entire parts scooters for less than what one used wheel and tire costs on ebay. for example, i purchased a chinese yamaha vino clone made by motobravo for a parts bike (see similar pic here: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_hVto8vlexwc/S ... azzi50.jpg). this has been a great source of parts for my yamaha vino restoration project. everything bolts right up, its almost an exact clone. the motor is junk and completely different, but the bike itself looks identical cosmetically. I was able to use all of the plastics and wheels. i paid $75 for the whole bike, including two good tires and wheels. I am looking to source the wheels and tires off a honda metro or metro clone for my elite 50cc, so i need to identify a chinese knockoff brand scooter that is the honda metro equivalent of the motobravo vino clone. Any suggestions???

or, does anyone want to sell me a spare honda rear wheel and tire that will fit my eliteE50cc? how much?

Fwiw like people said before CHINESE cloned wheels will NOT work on a JAPAN honda engine. Those bikes do not use our spline count.

you're talking about your YAMAHA working, not the HONDA. If you know it works go for it even though we have all told you it won't work.
