My buddy has a 1984 Spree and we've had a * of a time keeping it running. The starter wouldn't work so we tore it apart and put new brushes in it, and now it seems to work well. Has a newer spark plug, carb was recently cleaned out, drop of sea foam put into the tank, etc. Every time we try it sounds so close to starting it just want light or go. I wondered if it was a fuel/air ratio mixture problem so we dropped gas down the air filter (into the carb) and tried starting it - still no go. Then we waited, let the gas evaporate, and try starting it with just simply the air filter off to allow more airflow. Still a no go. Any ideas guys???
