Aero Parking Brake?

Post by ck_ni »

What is the point of the little extra brake / parking brake on a Honda Aero?

It may be an anti-theft device, apply the brake, turn the lever to lock, turn off the key and now the Aero wont roll, that is how the lock works on my Aero 125.
Some older Hondas have a steering lock.
1984 Aero 125 57 mph for sale.

Elite 150 64 mph for sale.

Elite 250 77 mph. for sale.

Red Honda Grom, modded to 250cc, 87 mph.

GSXR 1000 168 mph. My new favorite, scooters seems way too slow now.

Greetings:

You can leave a motorcycle parked on a steep hill and it won't roll if it's in gear. A scooter will roll, so applying the brake prevents that. Plus I'm guessing it's a "Safety" feature required in most jurisdictions. If you ever reassemble a carb and you're not sure it won't take off at WOT, it's good practice to set the brake the first time you fire it up. It can also leave your hands free if you need to block the carb with one hand while pressing the Starter with the other.
