Honda AF24E

Post by bootz1 »

Hey guys!

Any info/tips on the AF24E engine? looks really similar and like alot of parts for AF18 Dio engines would bolt on. Its from a 1994 Giorno I bought cheap for parts.
Any info appreciated!

Yes, and that is the af16 style case which is very similar to the af18.
There were two different af24 motors which were for two different scooters.
You have the one for the Giorno.
I am not sure about internal parts fitting between the af18 and af24 but I'm sure you will let us know if you find out!

Update: af24 case has the small diameter crankshaft on variator side (1st generation dio style).
I have seen seals that would allow for the use of af16/af18 large diameter crankshaft. I just can't remember where I saw them.......
Also there may be other differences not yet know. :eyeroll:

Greetings:

It baffles me that Honda-san downsized to 10mm the drive end of the 1st-generation AF18's crankshaft. The fact that it went back to 12mm suggests that perhaps they encountered some failures. So why, oh why did they do it again for the AF24??

I suppose there was some old stock still on the shelves to use up? Then they put that motor on some funky frame of a scooter to market the older crowd....lol. This guy in Taiwan sells the seals to convert to the 14mm? crank. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-Dio-G-Eli ... 1627789446
