New to me, janky Spree

Post by thxcuz »

I picked up the spree today. I'm unsure of the year but there is no glove box.
It needs some love for sure. Either the battery is bad (though the horn works as well as the brake light)
Or it could be a bad solonoid.

Some genius removed the turn signals so I have to do something about that, and the shock feels mushy, but that could be due to my big fat hinder.
The rear tire looks like someone did spinouts on it daily
Oh, and the center stand is nowhere to be found....seriously?
That being said, I am looking forward to this project

I do have the side panels but the need to be glued up and repainted.
They guy seemed sad to let it go.
He threw in the skull and ammo box for free.
Um, thanks? any advice will be appreciated throughout my first venture into Japanese scooters.

Definitely some over-the-limit tonnage going on here.
The OEM, 30 year old shock was weak since new...good start on moto project.
Keep looking... :thumbwink:

That's what I use on mine. I'm 320lbs and it rides smooth with even my weight. Way better then stock and is adjustable.

Try using jumper cables to a car battery while car is NOT running. You want to jump the bike with 12v from a non-running car. If the car is running it would see a 14.4v zap and would fry the rectifier. This would solve the "dead battery or bad solenoid" mystery assuming the motor turns freely and is not seized.
I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.
