turning point in life

Post by ped » Sun Aug 05, 2018 4:35 am

Life is slowing down. Met some great people. Scooters are starting to collect dust. What's next?

Nice collection! You have done amazing things Ped! :worship: I don't ride my exotic stuff around as much but I do have very affordable transportation for the short haul albeit the weather is usually quite accommodating here most of the time.
I have found one way to do both, move on from building these really nice machines  , and keep in touch with what I learned along the way. That is by helping other people with (vintage) scooters. :thumbwink: Best of luck with your dilemma!

Greetings:

At this point in my life, time for Projects is extremely limited. Plus Ms. Wheel-Person has put the Kibosh on further mods to Flash 9. But given the iron anvil-like reliability of that scooter and the big grin on my face whenever I run a grocery or Dry-Cleaner errand on it, I'm pretty content just to Ride It.

If I do dig in to it again, it'll be to re-think the bowl vent situation. It's really hard to start unless I fire it up every single day. Just 48 hours and I'm back to 14 kicks before ignition.

What's next is up to you.
Evaluate your time, your responsibilities, and your means.
Find a balance that will allow you to ride, if that's your true desire.
I have COPD, a bad hip, and have survived a triple bypass now for 11 years.
Riding is an absolute must for me...in order to satisfy my own hunger for
independence and richness of life.
Turning points don't always mean that something bad is coming,
but that something different is coming.
I hope you can face every tribulation with fearless courage and confident determination.
Anything less might be perceived as submission and failure.
I'm pulling for you ped. You are going to be just fine.
Ride to live, live to ride.

Speaking of which, are you doing that 50cc ride again this year?

Try extending the carb breather tube to somewhere under the seat where you can blow into it. It's the only way my AE50 will start after a couple of days standing. My AF05 Honda Vision will start just fine after a long time standing if I spin the starter for a few seconds to get fuel in the carb then leave it for 30 seconds.
Back on topic, well you just need to keep riding them & whatever you do don't get rid!
