newest scooter purchase tg50 project

Post by harleyracer59 »

well im still trying to finish my 84's the blue aero and the orange tact custom, have an 87 elite/ dj1 conversion project and I seen this black and gold gyro f/s. a month ago he wanted $500, two weeks ago it dropped to $300, ive been talking with owner. he actually told me it was given to his cousin, who gave it to him... . he told me hed sell it to me for 200 because it would complete the pair with my 84 nn50. I told him because of missing parts, im at 100ish and if that's not doable on his side, say it now so I don't waste any of both of our times. he told me ok and we made arrangements for themorning. any one have any leads on this poor scooters missing or broken parts? hmm hmmm Motor Mike... lol

Yes Mr harleyracer59, I have the plastics.
Maybe not ALL of them, but a real good start.
I will pull everything together for some pix.

Give me a couple days...will post pix here.

thanks Mr Mike! you are the man!!!! I think hes actually got the manifdold and hopefully the reed block. im on my way now to go pick it up. im mostly worried about the exhaust and head light. ill still take any panels anybody might want to sell. but the exhaust is the biggy. cant ride it without that. it rolls the guy says so hopefully the brake cables are good. that rear is a gyro only part with that splitter box. ill post the outcome when I get back tonight.

Yes, exhaust will be tricky.
On facebook page "Honda Scooters Only", I posted a request for your exhaust.
My weekend is filling up fast, but will try hard to get you some pix of my stash.
Step #1 is complete: Charge camera battery

so its in my garage with the rest of the fleet. this thing must have some story to tell. turns out just like my 84 310 miles on odo, it only has 324 miles on its odo. the rims are awesome tires are still new cylinder has some sort of sticky shellac in it, which is why it was originally disassembled. im guessing. theres no scoring or play in the bearings piston or cylinder walls. the engine cases are ridiculously clean no stains gouges cracks or broken parts...
it is missing almost every body panel except seat tail light blinkers and speedo/ warning lights. its missing all the engine cooling ducts/ covers, the muffler and carb. but I did get the reeds and manifold, luckily. dude dug around a half hour in his garage for the reed and manifold because I told him I wouldn't take it without. all and all, I think it was a good purchase. im happy and already looking for another set of 235/30-10 wheels like I have on my 84' nn50. ill take some more pics today. if any one has any of these missing parts for sale. send me a message. thank you very much!

harleyracer59,
Yes, you have a big problem.. LOL.. I do not know the cure.. but one sign of trouble is when your parts start stacking up in every room of your house instead of your shop..

I learned a long time ago as a kid with bmx bikes, when parts piles start appearing in the house, that's usually when the women of the house start *.
keeping it out in the garage, shop, shed(s), even the yard and they don't seem to mind or complain.
so even if you have to buy another shed, fill the trunks and beds of your extra cars. its much cheaper and easier than dealing with a * off wife, mother, girlfriend, ect… lol

so I got the 86 motor in the 85. need to get some new fuel line and find a coil around here and other than the muffler, ill have one of them running!!! I do have one header just no muffler. so I might take a lap or 2 with the straight pipe just to see how she goes. that, or pull the muffler off the 84 for it. we shall see. ill post some new pics later. y'all have a good day, check you later!

Update: All 3 are running. I swapped the motors in the 84 and 86. I plan to keep the 84 & 85. I’m thinking of converting one of the tg50’s to a dirt bike style set of forks and a disk brake on a spoked wheel.
The 86 is kinda the Guinea pig right now. I pulled the forks and rear wheels and mounted the 84 skinnies on the back and the mx forks just to see how it looked. I like the forks but it looks goofy with the 84 wheels. I need to swap back to the 6” stocks.
I put the fatties on the 85 and it’s wheels on the 84. Overall I’m happy with those 2. The wide tires look cooler on the tg. And it’s tires look better on the 84 than it’s stock skinny 8” wheels.
What do y’all think?
