It’s a family thing now

A dad here. Paying homage to hondaspree.net. Back in 91 when I got my first new (used) Yamaha Riva jog there were no inter webs. Not even cds )compact discs( to get online. But it was fast and fun as *.

Fast forward. Dad with now 4 (2 step) girls never wanted one of them to have to ride on the back of any Harley other than mine. Dad, with internet now (and a craigslist addiction) finds an 86 spree painted navy blue over something the consistency of corn flakes. Let’s say we’ll loved to say the least. Kicker was junk and electric didn’t work. Several miles of riding with the only ignition being a 10mm) nut directly to the driven pulley.

Enter hondaspree.net. All of the girls, excepting one holdout, have learned on the spree. Piles of sprees later the original still remains for the daughter who’s gift it was when she turned 12. She rides it with her new license proudly. Her little sister rides it around the neighborhood happily too.

And with the help of the hondaspree.net folks the grown ups have moved to elites. He gave up the ultra classic for scootering life. She gave up the shadow for the comfy rear seat. And back to a scooter. There were two elite 80s (2001 and 1986)until the first day of summer. When I happened upon a 1987 Elite 150. Factory radio. ...86 Elite sold side of road asking price in under an hour.

I’ve learned a lot from this site. Thank you hondaspree.net.

Why 4 years you ask? Tried to login for my daughter, as my daughter with her age way back then. Guess she just turned old enough to login.

Hey Spreeelite87,

That was a great story. Well, I came across a 1986 Spree and bought it for $200. It's in a bad condition but it still might work. Joined hondaspree.net to read threads about how to restore the scoot and make it run. Actually, I'm not really planning to join at first but the forum really helps.

I can answer most question. I started with an 86 spree that was in really rough shape. Still have that one.
