Never owned a spree before.....

Post by 2deadtimmy »

So I came across a sale the other day where a Honda spree was in pieces everything was there just needed put back together guy said it ran so I bought it.
Came with service records an extra seat some new parts nuts bolts new oem filter and a service manual.
I guess I should mention this is a Iowa edition and surprisingly enough it started right up after piecing it together it don’t have a battery and the guy I got it from said he tore it apart because the electric start to work I haven’t got a battery yet to test myself but he said he replaced a relay still nothing.
Someone drilled holes in the muffler I guessing it was clogged or they thought they was gonna get performance that way. Had some carb issues I adjusted the air/fuel mixture screw I got a good idol and fixed my no power issue but I’m afraid I just masked an underlying issue like the carb probably needing a good cleaning I also noticed it’s wet around the bowl. Idk if I should rebuild or replace looking for suggestions.
With that being said I’m looking for suggestions and the spree in general I bought it to flip it I figured I could make a dollar or two but it is kinda fun and my teenage girls really like it but I want just a little more power and speed out of it nothing crazy if I could get it to go 35 I’d be happy and I know I’m to big for it by about 60lbs according to the Data tag I don’t expect a lot out of the little guy but I have read the Iowa edition has a washer restricting the exhaust I checked and didn’t find any inlet or outlet and that the final drive is shorter looking for suggestions I’m not gonna get to crazy with it and again I plan to sell it eventually but is there a recommended carb I should put on maybe a pipe and what about this final drive or clutch system anything I can do there

Thanks
