I’m Back!

Hello all,
It’s been several years since I’ve been on the forum as I moved on into motorcycles and such without having owned a spree or Honda related scooter in a long time. But now I’m back to dive into the madness. Picked up these 2 scoots yesterday and can’t wait to get em running.

Well done Master Chief...welcome back.
Make sure the muffler on that Gyro is good and clean inside...my last one caught fire inside after 10 minutes of WOT
and melted a perfectly nice engine cover.

Thanks MotorMike - glad to be here and thanks for the advice on the exhaust. Mine doesn't look too bad but a little rusty. Just started washing and cleaning and getting to the carb for a clean. Should be fun.

Seems I recall you being in the southwest, New Mexico perhaps. Now Oregon !
By way of explanation: I purchased my '84 Gyro from an 86 year-old lady who had used it strictly in a campground.
Many years of idle speed allowed oil build-up inside the muffler.
Anxious to rip it through the neighborhood, i went straight-away into my usual WOT status.
A friend was following me. After 10 minutes, the muffler was smoking, and the smell was not
typical 2-stroke oil. Muffler was on fire inside, and the intense heat had overcome the shields enough to start melting the plastic
engine cover. The vent grills on top of the cover became soft and disfigured, the carb inspection cover deformed.
I have it on the lift now for a deep clean. This incident occurred several months ago, and I have been riding it without cover.
