I just picked up and 84 Aero 50 for 140 bucks and was wondering if it would be a good motor to swap on my 1985 spree?

Greetings:

Yes,... if... The trouble with the 1984 is that there are few (if any?) go-slightly-faster parts. Even stock parts might be hard to source, as the design was only sold here for 2 years. Still, the variator ensures better-than-Spree performance in acceleration and overall.

i have an ab07 bthat does 60mph. they are a great engine. any performance gy6 variator can be used on the engine by drilling out the boss from 14mm to 15mm.
the same adapter used on the af05 can be made or purchased to use a ct dio reed intake.
af 16 dio performance exhausts can be used on this engine by cutting the exhaust flange and turning it 90* deg and rewelding it.
as far as big bores go, i added material to the cases and opened the ports to match up with a af01 lead cylinder. lots of bbk made for the af01. i havent vareified it yet but a pgo star cylinder looks like it will bolt right on. same stroke, same exhaust flange ports look the same and all research i have says cylinder studs are same spacing. only reason i havent tried it is i have 3 different af01 bbk that i still wanna try. my polini is still doing great 2.5 years later.
the final gears are low great for top speed, and the stroke is bigger than an af05e, that helps low end torque. it is faster than all my built af05 engines.
