I changed laptops last year and lost the program that edits pictures.
I can't downsize now, and I,too, sometimes get the message "file too large".
I haven't figured out how to overcome the issue yet.
Most of the pics I post come from my digital camera, not a phone.
Some will go through, some won't.
Answers to your questions are welcome here....motor

All photos get hosted here; tired of forums with missing photos b/c they used 3rd party. But I don't want to get overwhelmed with hosting either. I don't recall what its set to but probably way less than your phone native resolution...

I put all my pics on Google Photos, and then link them in my posts. It's a bit of a process though as the generated link in Google, has to be modified to allow the pic to be embedded into the thread post. Otherwise, it just shows up as a link to be clicked on.
I use this site to get modify the links:

I just use
https://imgur.com/ and post them in using the "img" bb code (just click the copy button in the bb code section after uploading by clicking on the picture, a box will pop up.
