Crank shaft forc1988 elite 50cc?
Just bought t this non runner tonight 1988 elite 50cc. Unfortunately the crank is completely striped on belt side. Everthing else seems fine...can I find a replacement crank or was this a big mistake? Also the varirator seems to be missing parts. If anyone could provide a picture it would be appreciated. I belive it's is an af05 e. I am not sure if the variator is missing parts as there is only 3 weighs and a backing wich is not bolted on. I can't add pictures for some reason.
Re: Crank shaft forc1988 elite 50cc?
Reason for only 3 weights is the previous owner has removed the other 3 weights to increase the take-off rpm's.
The "backing"plate or [ramp plate] as it is known, is NOT bolted in place, but travels freely on plastic "guides"
and is done so by design. You can search for the appropriate parts diagram according to model and year of your bike to see the complete breakdown of parts associated with your variator. As for a crankshaft, you can place an advert here in the "Wanted/For Sale" category...good luck...motor

Re: Crank shaft forc1988 elite 50cc?
Yeah there is no guide present
Re: Crank shaft forc1988 elite 50cc?
Should be several present
3 or 6 not sure
Welcome to you sir.
I'll be around to answer what I can, and direct you where needed.
While I've had loads of bikes, doesn't mean I know them all intimately.
I've just bout stopped doing my own repairs these days.
Good luck with your efforts.
Replacing a crankshaft will likely get expensive, considering all the
parts that probably should be replaced. Maybe there is a better answer for you, like swap in a good engine.
That will be a challenge too, finding one. Cheers.....motor...

Re: Crank shaft forc1988 elite 50cc?
The way I do it, and it's not a great method, is to post the pic on my facebook page first.Fatmanonabike wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 6:00 pm Anyone know how I can resize my photos..app will not let me upload says to large?
Then, I click on that image on the page and "Save Image" to my "downloads".
Once that image is in my downloads, I can post it on the forum.
Some programs allow you to resize photos, but this laptop I am using does not have that program.
