Harder Gear for a faster 1985 Honda Spree

Post by andrew_v »

Hi all,
I have a 1985 Spree. I was thinking of getting a harder gear on it to go faster. This one, from Scooterswapshop, looks appealing:
https://scooterswapshop.com/collections ... eed-pulley

However, I have some concerns/questions.

1. Will this hurt the engine in any way?
2. If not, any tips or tricks?
3. Is this the best "harder" gear to buy for a spree, or are there other ones out there?
4. Should I even be considering buying a harder gear?

Thanks a ton in advance,
Andrew

Greetings:

1. The pulley will not hurt the engine in any way, and your top speed should improve, but...
2. Read the ad carefully. It says everything you need to know. Swap-Shop folks are straight shooters.
3. Except for a very rare different Final Drive set, no.
4. If you don't mind Flintstoning a little off the line in exchange for a bit better top speed, sure!
