well the white with the red lettering was an iowa model, i think. i know the 1985 didnt have a kick start, maybe 84s too, im not sure. as for the 40mph, thats just odd to me, you will have to wait for someone with more info.

sorry im not that much help.

honda use to have the options of baskets, floor mats, glove boxes, but no one really bought them when they where available. thats why you dont really see them to much now.

looks to me just to be a 84 spree Iowa, but again, i could be wrong.

It's a Spree. You're in the right place.

84 Spree have 40 MPH speedos... ironically the later ones only go to 35 but are faster. How's that for false advertising?

Def false advertising. Know anything about the (e) suffix? Like maybe if it is from another country?

Why does my mom have a minivan that has a 120mph speedo in it? why does my 4 banger camry have a 140 mph speedo? It makes it look faster. im constantly speeding in the camry because 70 isnt even halfway across the gauge!

'84 spree with optional glovebox too! Nice find.

BTW I thought you were the guy who was parting out a lot of sprees. I could be wrong though.

The 40 mph is for when u do a swap!

I do part out Sprees. I was asking about this one because if it were somewhat "special" I would keep it. But great thinking on the 40 speedo being for when I swap the motor. I just picked up an 87 Elite S and was thinking anout trying the swap. Especially since there are new developments concerning this motor and dio gears.

Looks just like mine, same white plastics and same red lettering except I don't have the glovebox or the cute little basket...
I have seen 40 on mine during a very daring practically straight down run,
it was screaming!

How about this angle - Some'84 owners thought it was false advertising to show the '40' but not go that fast. So they changed the artwork, but not the speedometer mechanicals. The last tick still is calibrated for 40, but actually the speedo will go well past 40 (It went further than in the pic - at least 180 degrees) If we made a custom artwork like Dac did for his Elite, we'd have enough range for engine swaps!

what you have to do is do the motor swap, line up next to a car and find out what is what speed. that way when you are photoshopping away you know where to put the speeds.
