NB50 AERO: Source for 9:1 Gears

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

Thanks to the kindness of this Collective, I have found sources for all the Go-Less-Slow parts I plan to install on the 1985 Aero with the exception of the final drive. There do not seem to be any available that are described as compatible with the NB. Lots for '94/later SA/Dio, though.

So with the High-Speed/9(?)gram pulley alone, what is a typical top speed for a 63cc (Bore Kit) Aero? I imagine it gets up there pretty quickly, too?

If I do find the gears, will this engine and stock/rejetted carb (withOUT HiPo exhaust - can't find any and too expensive anyway) likely be able to pull to redline with 9.1:1? Will it be a slow and painful climb?

In a related ramble, while I have the carb off, can I get busy with Mr. Dremel and make any "standard" mods to the carb/manifold/case port that may help get the most from the 63?

All input welcome.

The carb/intake is pretty godd as is, leave it be if you have to ask.

Gears require a little machining(can probably hand file if your careful) what you do is take a complete set of factory DIO gears(post 1994 elite) install DIO 9:1 gears on the shafts and do a bit of fitting to make those fit the NB case. READ ME http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB2/viewto ... sc&start=0

I believe that they do not make them anymore, but I know they used to. Somebody had some for sale on here not too long ago.

50cc.eu has some listed, and one member on here said there site was upto date and shipped to the usa. Its got to be cheaper then getting dio gears and putting them in.

9:1 Gears Not Listed on 50cc.eu

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

Thanks for all the replies. The 50cc.eu site listed seven (7!) top-end kits for the Aero along with a 19mm Amal carb and a rusty-looking stock muffler, but no gears or anything else I could fiind today. Depending on the exchange rate, Polini and Malossi 47 mm piston/cyl kits for under E$100 sounds about right?

One of their kits - Euro 70 I think it was - showed a replacement metal fan wheel.

Anyway, thanks again. I'll keep searching for gearsets.

What is the nb50, a spree motor? 50cc.eu has gears for the se50. I can't remember if the nb50 is same as se50.

but what does 16-32 come out to? 9:1 would be 16-42.

Anyway, i'm looking at a 70cc polini 47mm, doppler 16-41 gears, and 21mm amal carburetor. Comes to $352.19 shipped.
