'87 Elite Questions

So I'm looking into a "fixer-upper" scooter and found what is said to be a 1987 Honda Elite 50. At the very least it will need side panels and the handlebar plastics. From what I have seen the body panels are specific to this year only? What do these panels normally sell for? And how do I know for sure this is the "SE50" engine?

To see if it's the se50, which it is, look under seat and it will say se50p (restricted) or se50 (not restricted). Look at motor towards the back by the trans drain plug and check the stamp in case.

Greetings:

Plastics are both rare and expensive for this one-year-only model. ~$200 for covers in fair condition, if you can find them.

Look for engine code AF05E, generically called Elite SE50 here, to distinguish this blockfrom the '94-later AF16E, called SA50 here.

Evidently not all 05E engines are variator-equipped, because the same code reportedly adorns the cases of Sprees and their related Elite "E" descendants.

The '87 is one of the best-looking models, but the shortage of trunk space is another drawback.

The '87 Aero shares the same powertrain + 2 lockable boxes.
