No gasket between cases. Honda bond is like permatex.

Honda bond gasket sealer must add thin layer on both half case. Install a crank into a left side case it is not easy without special tool or case can damage. torque wrench 7.2 lbs

Greetings:

Juicy pics, y'all. Thanks for sharing.

The hole in the shroud is, uhh... Well, air going in must come out. I'm convinced Honda-san blows it there to prevent carb icing. You Aviators (and Northerners) know what I'm talking about. The foam is likely for noise abatement.

The bigger bores still have to keep the plug tip central. I agree they should come with redesigned shrouds, but don't expect that'll happen when you pay so little for that fine casting and machine work. I used muffler tape around the part of the plug hole that became exposed.

VeeDubh, are you sure about using a pliable gasket maker between the case halves? Isn't the gasket thickness a critical factor? I won't argue with success, but maybe that's specific to the crank you're using?

referencing the SA50 manual the 88-93 engine is the only engine that has the gasket between the crankcase halves.

Why can't anyone make a bbk head, that lines up with the spark plug hole?

The plastic kinda gets in the way by the exhaust too
Image
I plan on cutting out some around the flange. get the scissors ready :bs: :DImage

And * is there a hole on the back side of the plastic for? :?
Image

I am also confused about the foam located inside the fan shroud. What is it for?

ImageImageImage
The bigger bore head sits higher. Very easy to just cut plastic with dremel or scissors.

Hole in the back side of the plastic is to vent the aircooling air out, after it has passed through the fins of the cylinder.

the foam inside the a/c cover is to pickup stray particles sucked up through the fan opening, doesnt pick up anything major but does its job. this way you get a tiny bit amount more airflow instead of dirt thrown at the bore.

I like your clutch cutout, looks good. very nice overall

Yes you did see boost port marks!

And today I have the Magic Stick :*: (The all pupose cutting tool for EVERYTHING) :thumbwink:

Well, if dem0nk1d says the CT needs smoothing, I'd better get to it.
Image
Image
Ahh yes .... I see the edges that I must smooth out

Image
Image
I knocked down the edge, that needed to be smooth, with a quick scribble of the Magic stick.

ImageImage
ImageImage
The magicstick scribble was not as smooth as I wanted....so I broke out the sand paper.

Image
Image
Then I hit it with as small brass brush. Is this smooth e- nuff?

Since I am making the CT mani super smooth, I figured it would be a good time to smooth edges of the intake ports in the case too.
