.....it's a flamin' Aero....

Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
Todays' brisk romp across town went well until about 2 miles from home when a familiar "rattle" returned, reminiscent of the cylinder-shroud racket then has once before stranded me 20 miles away. I stopped and did some kwik diagnosis only to find that the rear wheel had some suspicious wobble and looseness, possibly some bearing failure, but hopefully just a loose axle nut. Fingers crossed on this one...

...that rattle turns out to be an exhaust shield on the pipe that had broken out around the mounting screw. Five bucks and five minutes with the oxy/acetylene torch and I had a washer brazed in to fill the missing piece. The loose wheel was only a loose axle nut. Mounted last with an electric impact, I must have been a little stingy with the trigger. Caught this early, otherwise would have resulted in some axle/wheel damage. Torqued it this time with 55-60 lbs.Test ride of 60 miles proved to be all good...until....zing went the belt. Now I'm back to scrounging around for something to get Ruby back in the groove. Times are tough....

...Red Dog scooters is my hero for the day. I was fortunate to find that a long-forgotten parts-bike (CH125) in their basement was still in possession of a Bando 23100-KJ9A-0030. The back measures 17.15 mm, so still within useable specs. Imma throw it on in the morning and be mobile again, hopefully until I can get a NEW belt that measures 799 X 19 X 28. Those seem to be available as they fit GY6's. ..................

Seemingly some confusion here, DeathByFox....the bike in Red Dogs' basement is an Elite CH125. Yes, the carb is still on it and I'm sure you could buy it, BUT, You are asking about a carb for NH125 ?????

Not my fault you can proof read your post. Originally it said
Also the CH 125 carb is a CV type carb while the NH carb is a standard round slide carb. Not interchangeable.

...understandable, I've mis-read a few things and then later realized I made a mistake. But, that's all it was,..just a mistake. Nobody was injured, and I'm not the world's biggest_____, and i might even do it again someday. Rock-on .......DeathByFox wrote:yes i had assumed that you got the belt off a nh125.

Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
Did not take it that you were, DeathByFox.... ...With this belt she has seen a new topspeed. Accompanied by neighbor Matt on his People 150 and GPS, we did a run on the parkway and confirmed Ruby topping out at 68 mph. With a long 2-mile WOT at a slightly downhill grade for the last mile, we hit 74 mph, but Ruby would never hold that on the flat without some additional mods. I really hesitate to make it any louder, just so the "old folks" aren't bothered when I roll out at 1:00am for a starlite cruise. The one thing i may try is the main jet up one more size as the plug looks like there's room for a little more fuel and the throttle still has some room at the top...Took her out again today for a birthday lunch at The Smokin' Pig, White House, Tn...probably about a 70 mile round trip, all in the twisty stuff north of Nashville. Some minor belt "odor" after the hardest 3 miles, but as long as I'm keeping it down at 45-55, it doesn't get hot and start stinking.DeathByFox wrote:Oh motormike i wasnt acusing you of being a bag of d's. Re: .....it's a flamin' Aero....
Have you thought about making some holes in the cvt cover? It has been done on elites and the like for a cooler belt. P.S. was your carb set up cheap(Sub 200$) or expensive? Because i still cannot get and adapter to fix mine.
