Greetings:

Painfully slow fine-tuning process update:

Swapped in 7.97:1 gears about 2 weeks ago. Switched to +1000 Contra spring behind ZX pulleys and went to 35.8 grams. Thanks for that tip Bakaracer!
The 45 was producing a bit of a heat spike off-throttle. I happened to have an off-brand 46 Pilot and still running 120 Main. The heat "humps" to 350 off-throttle have decreased about 25 degrees, but behavior is a bit rich in the midrange transition. May need to drop the needle a click leaner. Colder weather has paled the plug two shades. Last time I carried Garmin-girl, she reported 60.4 MPH on a surprisingly short sprint on my route to work along a freeway service road. It was still climbing, and briskly. The power is remarkable once it gets above 20MPH. I've had it get tail-happy opening the throttle around a corner twice, and the front wheel gets light when I whack it open at 10-15MPH. Corsas Rock!

See Wheelman,

that's why everyone was trying to get you to get a Corsa 2 years ago dude!
Worth the money, and from what I have heard, very forgiving to lean & "hot" runs.
I still have never heat seized mine; and thats tuning without a temp gauge. It should hopefully be here tomorrow, though!

Glad Flash is gtting front-wheel happy.

Greetings:

Yeah J but I'm a cheap Bastich and had to hold out for CustomX's used Corsa. I'm glad I did. It's already broken in. I just hope not to break it Down!

Checked the plug after 2 days on the 46 Pilot and it's dark coffee again. Power's down a hair, confirming to me that a big pilot continues to richen the mixture even when you go WOT.

Since the temp in the midrange is moderate and actually declines at to 275@WOT, maybe I need to go 118 on the main instead of 120? I dropped the needle a click leaner from middle again to see what that does first...

I will check to see if I can help with your name change request.

Greetings:

Low-end with the 78 was comparable to the Corsa. But while the 78 seems to run out of breath - even with a PG Long installed - the Corsa just keeps on a-pullin' to well North of 10K. Horsepower = Torque x RPM...

Greetings:

I was using a 160 in the OKO 30 with a mild pipe @ 86cc. If you start too big, you can always jet down. Start too amall and maybe not.

Suggest a 148.

Flash Breaks 87 MPH!!

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

Loaded up Garmin-Girl and went for a WOT test run. (It saves maximum speed achieved...)

Got back and was stupefied: 87.7 MPH.

Once again, I'd failed to Reset Max after a ride from Yellarosa to Deepinnaharta in the Fun Family Truckster.

I tried again later, against a very light breeze and recorded a more-realistic 63.0.

Image

Not bad for rich jetting and not-yet perfect tranny tuning. More to come?

The Big Ride

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

On Thursdays, my commute takes me about 15 miles out of town to a remote plant. Mostly on 45-60 MPH roads in semi-lousy condition. I usually don't dare to scoot but the weather was so good, and I've grown confident in the reliability of Flash 3.2 and decided to scoot to work this morning. Flash didn't disappoint.

Sweet sunrise air, chilly until the Great Orange Ball came up over my Port Bow, and didn't miss a stroke all the way over and back. The return trip featured a headwind of about 15-20MPH, and still Flash could produce 50 MPH on demand. Temps did run up a hair over 350 but without complaint, except sometimes it idles a bit slow when it gets warmer than usual. Gotta open up that air bleed...

The ride home I was in a hurry to get to the Post Office, so instead of the Service Road, I risked staying on the Deepinnaharta Freeway to my exit about 2 miles up the road. Once again, Flash was up to the task. Perhaps because of a tailwind, or maybe slow-ish traffic breaking the wind ahead, but effortlessly cruising along with a GPS high of 60.2 without going anywhere near WOT even once.

Ah'm a-lahkin'-a dis Corsa!

Greetings:

Thanks, dawg!. Gaining confidence enough to risk rubbing elbows with Firebirds and Fairmonts on the Deepinnaharta Freeway. I usually carry Garmin-girl in a front mesh jacket pocket. Turned 'er on Friday afternoon for the speedway home:

That's not even a real "Top Speed" run, but I did have to go WOT for about 15 seconds to get around Buick-boarded-Blue-Haired-Betsy. The looks you get from people who sort of know what 50ccs are supposed to be capable of are priceless.

Greetings:

The block was only cleaned up a little, but the Boost was not enlarged beyond the size of the included Polini micro-thin base gasket. It'll go faster than 65 once I get the belt shimming fine-tuned and install the Polini 248.035 belt I have coming.
