That Aero always hurts my eyes looking at it so shiny and new...

That S is clean also ... I would kill to have an all OEM stock S untouched :2thumbs:

Bakaracer,

Yes sir, the slicks on my Aero are Sava 90-90-10's. I think we paid $45 for the clear taillight on the SR from Travis on forums Hawaii. (He's a great seller and super-friendly person)

-I had never seen anyone with a transparent red taillight on a red S / SR, and I thought it would look really clean because it would blend in with the paint.

I used Japanese Vans brand taillight lens paint- 3 coats then a coat of Vans crystal-clear top coat.

Thanks much for all your compliments, elite_dub, much appreciations, bro!!

Sanjuro,

The 2001 Elite SR is not mine, it belongs to my wife Angie!

We bought it last year, and it was a complete disaster. My boss at the shop was just going to part it out because it had been mistreated and destroyed. The engine was locked up, all plastics cracked and scraped with road rash, it was missing a ton of parts, some parts were just boxed up since the previous owned could not get it back together, and everything that was salvageable needed extreme cleaning.

Actually though, it's terrible condition was just what I was looking for, because I wanted a scooter Angie could fully rebuild and restore for her to ride. -She is actually an awesome mechanic, herself! She stripped it down, and began the process of cleaning and rebuilding.

Here is a couple of pics of when she got it down the the bare frame:

The link to her build are here:

All I helped her with was some of the damaged wiring, mounting the engine, and installing the rings on the piston.
I am so proud of her!

Thanks for the compliments, again.

how long is your rear shock? mine is 260mm of 270mm im not quite sure but my panel rubs on my exhaust pipe a little. i have a dio swap on my aero too and i cant figure out how to make the pipe not rub. is there some sort of shock extender or do i just need to buy a longer shock?

and does your front tire rub on the underside of the front fender since the tire is so big?

My Daytona shock is 270mm, and I have never had the issue of rubbing my exhaust. The front tire is a 3.5x10, mounted on a tubeless Honda Metropolitan wheel, and it has never rubbed my front fender. Hope this helps, jon

Update....

After installing the SEF stock-stroke, longer connecting rod crank, bakaracer gave me some education on keeping my port-timing accurate. I removed the extra base gaskets, (went from 3 base gaskets to 1 base gasket) and installed a Ruima 47mm head with an extra head gasket. This allowed the port timing to be where it should for the SEF crank, and lowered my compression to 125 psi.

Talk about a difference!! The combination of the Polini Corsa bore and the SEF crank performs unreal! Night and day difference from the Ruima "mini stroke" crank I was using before. After running about 15 tanks of fuel thru the bore really slowly, it is now broken in and it freaking screams. It pulls all the way thru; and when I had a "follower" car to check the speed, my Aero gets to 69 mph effortlessly. :2thumbs:

This combination of the stock-stroke, longer conrod crank and the Corsa is totally recommended! My scooter has never ran this good!

Thanks, Baka- for all your help and expretise!

Jon :coolcruise:

My favorite Elite build so far. What gear ratio are you using for the transmission?

how is the con rod longer than stock but same stock stroke? i've been toying with the idea of a 72 corsa and full cover stock stroke crank, hopefully to satisfy my scorpion pipe's need to rev
