Spree-dio-Proma conversion
Patrick of Daywot was kind enough to sell me a pipe for a ridiculous
price based on , what really turned out to be a sort of mis-communication between us but regardless he stepped up and really impressed me with the way he handled the whole situation.
i was going to adapt it to one of my SH50's,(the Sprees modern counterpart from Yamaha). but decided the Spree-dio deserved it more.
the basic bend was close enough and the pipes design lent itself to an easy adaption...
here is the stock Dio pipe and the Daywot Proma, technically made for the Yamaha Beluga-
so i found the angle i wanted...
and proceeded to remove any doubt that it WAS going to work...
i seldom throw away leftover pipe pieces ar anything that looks like it might remotely be good for something down the road and pulled a
piece from an Aprilia RS 250 exhaust i had in the parts pan...
chopped off the hanger bracket...
and went to welding!
tuning is of course next and an added bonus is
the wheel can be removed without taking the pipe off!!
hooray!!!

rainy day here so i hafta wait for a test ride.
it'd be nice if it went as well as it looks!
if nothing else it'll shave about 10 pounds off the scoot!
that stock exhaust must weigh 20 lbs and the Proma about 5
that's a difference of 10, right??

wouldnt the fact that it is to be used on an 80cc scoot mess with the powerband? i am really curious on how well this works as it could give another option for the aero. it looks like it may be an even closer match to the aero since the exhaust ports are different.

strictly speaking- compared to say an 80/85cc mx chamber this thing is MUCH more suited to a 50cc engine.

true, i never thought about the fact that some of those chambers are huge for pretty small displacement. i guess it all depends on how its tuned. a high strung high compression engine would probably do better from it, where as a stock engine would probably take alot of work to get it working right.mookie wrote:strictly speaking- compared to say an 80/85cc mx chamber this thing is MUCH more suited to a 50cc engine.
as soon as it dries up, you need to bust out the jets and see what that guy will do for your scoot!

that goes for me also, im waiting to see the performace feedback. ill be needing a good exhaust ofr my bbk spree. and quiet thats what im looking for.

Nice conversion. Wait for your report on how it runs. Be sure to jet it up quite a bit before running it.

put a 92ish in in last night and swapped the "Stock" Aero airbox with the
Arreche i got from Wheelman when i bought the Sa50 carb kit for the Aero.
gonna slip out here in a bit and give it a go.may need to jet way up with the cool temps.48 and overcast/damp.hoping for a good result. the stock 16 motor is quiet slow-
at least this one is.about 35mph was all i could muster out of it on a 78 main
before the pipe and air/fuel upgrade....
