new guy & 86 Spree

Post by wreck »

I was poking around a little & found this site last night. Here are a couple shots of an 86 spree I picked up earlier this week. This one was to be a pit bike only. It only needed to have a headlight & tail light. Still has the oil injection, Not sure if it will make the cut or not. I want to focus on making it quicker NOT faster (0-15 or so) Wanting to get a new seat & the junk box from an 87 up front too.
I have a Kymco People 50 that is street legal so I can ride that till it sells.

What I was going for.
Image

Gauges removed & painted the lense from the back. All the switchs gutted, The horn & start buttons are now the kill switchs(hold either till it dies). Headlight on high always. Harness has been completely gutted to set the unnecessary wires free. There are only 3 wires coming from the back now.
Image

Mirror holes drilled retapped to 3/8 for the built in tie down loops.
Image

Plugs where the locks used to be.

Image

6 LED tail light & seat release
Image

Going to make a grab handle from an old dog collar I have laying around.
Image

Box of leftovers.

So far.

i'd like the rear brake light setup like you have to incorporate turn signals, for a daily driver..

I have been watching some old Helix's (or would it be Heli) going at some of the local auctions and seriously considered a transplant.

What is this Dio I am hearing about? Is it something available in the states? I was only aware of the aero, spree, elite, etc.
