I've got an 87 Spree I picked up and parted out with what I didn't need. Switching over to 86 wiring, and dash/controls.

Going to use an NH80(Aero 80) engine as the power plant, screw the AF05 and AF16 both!

That would be WAY too plain jane of me! Getting engine shipped the first of this week hopefully from workdog, going to make custom exhaust, port cylinder, mill cylinder head 20 thousandths, fat tire, oversize carb (not right away, but eventually).

Just sick of seeing the same old builds ya know? This should be interesting!

Will follow up with pics soon. It's nothing special yet, I have to buy the motor I have lined up first. I just have the frame stripped ready to be cleaned and painted.

Really an 80cc four stroke. How much power does one have? We last had a 150 honda. It wouldn't out roll my wifes 86cc. It was 100 pounds heavier though. I had thought briefly about swapping the engine into the 89 Elite_e but glad I didn't. Sold the 150 shortly after.

PS: If you go riding with a friend riding a 50 AF16-18 or clone you may be breathing some castor.

im thinking power to weight ratio will be a little breath taking. spree weighs in at under 100lbs with all liqiuds. behind that is a 80cc motor that im sure is variated. come on that should be pretty fast.!!! cant wait to hear results!! 45/50+ spree!! * yea!!!

Out of the box dude. these are 43-45 mph motors on the Aero 80, think of the light little Spree.

I think my trickiest part will be the motor mount, but we will see once this freakin payment clears for an expensive item I sold on eBay, and I get these parts here.

I still have to buy a dash/right controls and a seat, but I'll worry about that after I make some more coin. Motor first! I'll strip and clean the frame this week and get pictures of it up on the bench.

I've heard these motors will use a CR80 piston, so I want to check with Wiseco and see if they have an overbore piston/rings for that bike. If so, I'll have the cylinder bored up one size and see what she does.

My point in this project is people spend ENDLESS amounts of cash into doing SE50 and Dio sprees, I did an SE50 and I didn't like it. was fast, but not fast enough. I want to experiment with this engine and see what a good bit of elbow grease will do to it!

Be patient with me though folks, I promise lots of pictures and details on this build. If the Aero 80 shock is not long enough, I have one from a 150cc GY6 motor that's quite long and should do the trick. May use it anyways, just because it's chrome.

It doesn't take endless amounts of cash for a dio swap. I have about 1000 in mine.

i have an Aero 80 and to me it's just not that impressive of a power plant. not trying to burst your bubble here- just an observation.
mind you the Spree chassis is a lot less weight to lug around so you may be onto something.were all behind you here!

remember it's going to be the early aircooled CR80 piston you want.

Yes. I've done my reading. I think with some port work and an overbore she'll be snapping a plenty. I'm hoping (if there's enough room) that I can get the displacement up to around 100cc or so, and it should still be reliable! lol
