honda or non-honda

Post by skip1701 »

Hi all.

I hope I won' t upset any purists but I'm not sure how to classify this thing I'm slamming together, here's the skinny,. I got a hold of a qingqi scoot with most stuff missing and a fried motor (no big loss). I have a pile of elite and aero guts and a decent af05 motor (still hunting for a stator and alternator/flywheel...any ideas?) Putting together an extended motor mount, stripped the frame of all useless tabs and doodads. What would this be?, honda or non-honda, personally I'm leaning towards loyalty to honda-san. Any ideas will be considered and probably put into action. How 'bout everyones 2 cents worth. Thanks folks.

If you need stator and flywheel i think i have them, i'll have to double check. Off an af05.

One more thing, why not get a honda frame? It sounds like your qingqi is pretty trashed. Are you going to run body panels? If not i have an elite frame and Mookie also has some frames for little $$

stator and flywheel ! heck yeah! the motor I have has nothing but a gapping hole on that side of the motor, but has great compression. The frame I picked up local for next to nuthin and structurally is is fantastic shape...and the wife put me on a budget and challenged me to build it out of junk..i'm cool with that. and no panels going skelly/ruck-ish/battlescooter-like. just something unique i can throw in the back of my custom wagon at car shows. just playing with this thing while i wait for parts on the se50.

I like this idea. The Chinese scoots, a lot of times, have more interesting suspension designs and disks up front. The panels and motors are the weak point. It was a cheap find and you're using what's on hand, in the best of hot rod tradition.

Call it what you like; heck, call it "Sue." It's up to you. With cars, I call them by body, not engine, but it doesn't sound like you're using the body. Honda-Qui? Hon-Qui?

Im building the frame to accept future mods (aka turbine engine...lol) and all this on a budget. my wife ( god bless her ) half way thru this she presented me with a new mig welder..cool! was using a 30 year old mini stick welder
