Build "X" starts

Post by Fishman43 »

This build is just going to be called "X" for now until a final name is picked. Day one consisted of pulling apart the stock Dio motor, getting the new 9.1 gear pressed on and the final drive back together. Then putting the new 1500 center spring on with the new prodigy clutch and vented bell.

Greetings:

Congrats on the X assembly. May I suggest you reconsider the choice of 9:1 gears, however? Those may prove to be a bit short. With the right pipe you may reach 55 or more but that will occur after the Vario maxes and at a very high RPM.

8.4:1 will leave some variator function in reserve. Sorry this comes a bit late...

I am using the same pipe as the one on this scoot, procured from Wheelman.

I put some thought into the 9:1 gears vs a taller ratio, but my local roads are all 25-45 mph. There is only one 55mph road around and it is semi truck central. I don't want to be a hood ornament, so won't be using said road. If the 9:1 gears seem to short after break in it isn't all that hard to switch them out later.

Sand back side of plastic where patch will go. Cut patch of fiber glass to fit (I use woven), apply liberal amount of all purpose PVC glue, apply fiberglass into glue, add more if needed to wet fiber glass (shouldn't need to enough should have been done in step two). Clamp into corect shape if needed, wait for it to dry.

9:1 gears are perfect for your speed goals, and can easily cruise 45-50mph w/out strain, top speed near 60mph shee boogie
