Hello every one. I got my scooter last month for $200 but just now have time (thanks giving brake) to fix it. If you you the link to other post that could answer my question, plz give me, I have looked at the site for two days and still lost.
The scooter could run but was in nasty condition, here are some (other than ugly cosmetic):
-cannot start with ignition (kick start works well any time).
-when it runs, it sounds so loud like it is gonna falling apart, like it is going so fast but actually it can't never get over 25 MPH.
-if I open the throte all the way it would become weak and faint on the way.
-it has 2400 miles already

So I took everthing apart to clean them up and found out:
-the gas tank is all rusty inside.
-good thing: all the lights works, and speedometer works, gas gauge works
-battery is dead
-the frame says 1999 SA50P
-when I sake the muffler it sounds like it has bunch of sand inside, and along the pipe there are a lot of soldering spots
-the air filter is not there any more, who knows since when.
-the rear wheel shakes so bad when in rolls
-engine oil looks like has been in forever, brown and nasty, not much left when I open the screw to let it out.
-i broke the pistol when trying to get the flywheel out ^^.

My questions are(I don't have any Grinder or any kind of machine available):
-what could cause for low performance and noisy symtom of my scooter
-is mine Elite S, SA elite or SE elite.
-is mine restricted? how can I de-restrict it
-should I buy a stock muffler or mod one to replace (I saw a lot of ppl here using V8). for mod one do I have to mod anything else(like get another carb...)? I can afford to buy some stuff but I can not have any machine so if the mod parts require me to cut or solder I can't do it. Other than that I will go for better performance.
-can I clean my gas tank or have to buy new one
-what is the best way to clean the engine at home
-how to fix the shaky wheel problem

Thank you very much and I appreciate any answer to any question. You guys can give me the link or key to search in forum if you know the answer is somewhere in here.
If this is wrong topic please move it or tell me the right one. I'll move it myself.

Talobin wrote: -what could cause for low performance and noisy symtom of my scooter Missing air cleaner/filter, dirty carb, restricted model (sa50p), etc.
-is mine Elite S, SA elite or SE elite. Elite S...model sa50p

I recommend stock if keeping stock bore etc.
-can I clean my gas tank or have to buy new one Get a used one in good condition
-what is the best way to clean the engine at home ? I never cleaned at home.
-how to fix the shaky wheel problem Replace wheel with stock or wheel off a Met.

By the way, i just picked one up identical to yours. Mine is a 99 sa50p in yellow too and paid $200.

I forgot to mention we have a lower flow oil pump and single throttle cables. Zip-tie the pump open or get a split throttle cable from an Elite SR. What do you mean by "pistol"?

Piston maybe?

I say if you are willing to spend the money on the required parts (big bore, carb/manifold, exhaust, gears) then just upgrade. Fast is fun

Hmmm first thing sell it to me and buy one that runs allready :)

it will be less trouble but would cost you about the same $$$ in the long run

just my opinion

Thanks a lot evilone
I did a lot of purchasing today (happy thanks giving).
-An air filter to quite it down(and it is necessary too if i'm not wrong)
-A stupid flywheel puller to open everything up for cleaning up, I think I'll try to clean everything from case to carb by brake cleaner if that is not a stupid idea.
-A typhoon V8 muffler from daywot, mine got broken so you know, stock is not fun, i'm just trying out to feel the difference in performance
-A new belt, and a race variator, a race CDI
-A 48mm bore cylinder kit from OKO

And I have to bother you guys with new questions cause I know you guys are genius for some reason:
-Would the stock carb still work for my new big cylinder, do I need a different main jet or any thing
-Is the idea about cleaning up everything with brake cleaner stupid?
-Is it worthy to by new body cover for it(would cost me around 200$), mine are broken and losy, so they would shake and sound like "oh crab, imma fall off" when the scooter run fast or hit bumpy road.

Thanks guy and HAPPY THANKSGIVING !

well you lost money on the race cdi cause the ones from honda are not restricted, cleaning if fine, and with the bbk you will need to upjet the carb or get one that is a little larger. some run a 24 oko. plastics would be great if you want some show with all your go.! :thumbwink: think i would also get some 9:1 secondary gears :imo:
