my 86 spree project

Post by Normanspree »

this is my custom 86 spree. Tell me what you think. Haven't done much, but For now (since im poor) im just kinda messing around with it. I swapped the handle bars, removed the front fender, and repacked the headset while I was at it. looks kinda tacky at the moment, but its a work in progress. I want to add a bullet headlight and find a better spot for the spedo. ill throw up some more pictures soon. comments? suggestions? Image

Very nice Project. thinking about any engine mods to go as fast as it looks?
If it don't fit, force it. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway.

Intake and exhaust wise, things have to be custom made as of now. LAter on down the road things will be there for those im sure
What there is for the spree engine is the 44mm and 48mm big bore kit that a member, tazland001, sells.
He also sells a set of aftermarket gears for the engine.
PM him and he will make you a deal.
If your mechanically inclined you can do the front pulley mod, which is on the wikispreedia page and some other cool stuff.
With some perfromance mods the limit for the Spree engine hovers around high 30s, low 40s.
If you want higher speeds than that i suggest an engine swap

Nice scoot, and welcome

nice! thanks. yah, from what ive seen, engine swaps seem like the way to go. Tho I am pretty surprised at how much more fun it is with just the handle bar swap! it has a way better stance, I almost feel like it needs some kind of foot pegs further back. I saw one member totally stripped his down to just the frame and added a top bar and some foot pegs. looks like a lot of fun.

Yeah dude go for it.
If you haven't already download the service manual for the Spree from here on the forum. Then just follow the diagrams and what not and the tear down is real simple

sweet! that could come in real handy. especially wiring diagrams. tho by now I have most of the thing memorized lol. its ridiculous how much of the bike i had to tear apart just to get the front fender off lol. I literally had to take half of the bike apart.

sb50 intake and reeds fit with no other mods and add just a touch better air flow. by the way welcome to the forum and that sorta reminds me of a home made chopper that was running around town here. what a great look. as for speedo. check in to a vapor speedo. all digital and thin that will look great on those drag bars

Hey, you had to take the steering stem out to get the front fender off. And you had to undo that funky non- hex nut that has three notches in it.

How did you get that sucker back on there tight?

wrong. it would work the same if not almost the same. and you could just buy the sb50 carb as well wich has the oiler nipple on it.
