My 86 Spree

A couple weeks ago I found an 86 Spree at a yard sale. The owner told me he has had it sitting in his garage for the past 6 years and that it wasn't running very well. So I snagged it up for 180. Oh, and it came with the owners manual, a TITLE, and original bill of sale and 2 keys  This is a picture of it right off the truck.

I fear no speed... under 30 haha

Turns out the bike just needed an air filter, and a good carb cleaning. After I drove it around for a couple hours I decided to give her a paint job. I started off the the intentions of painting it flat black but after I painted a couple of the pieces I decided she needed a paint value > 0. After staring at the paint rack at Lowes for about 45 min. I had narrowed the choice between traffic cone orange or silver metallic. I think I made the right choice.

All in all I think it came out pretty good. Now the wife wants me to pick up another one of the several "non-running" sprees in the neighbor hood for her to ride :nervous:

I just realized how crappy the iphone pics are. I'll try and get some pictures with a real camera in a bit.

Very nice. Did you get a title as well to register it? If so, awesome deal!

Paint job looks classy! I'd take a black permanent marker to that purple seat trim and see if it holds up.

Yeah, i hate that purple trim too. And yes, it came with the title. I was shocked when he brought it out.

Gracias! I made a WTB thread in the for sale section with some needed parts. I checked the cylinder thats on the motor and it looks really good.

all that is left now is just the shock mount. as soon as i get that that new motor will find its home! while waiting on the shock mount i installed my CHT and Tach. I took the spree out for about 45 min and the temps maxed at 350 during a long wot but never went higher. once the shock mount gets here this motor will go on my other spree since its running really well.

i'm thinking that I want to get a trail tech tach to match the cht. hopefully my friend will buy this one off of my so i can have a reason to buy another :thumbwink:

oh, and for the af16 I installed:

66cc bbk
new vairator with 9g weights
new clutch
new clutch bell
1k torque spring
and lighter fan

i'm keeping the stock exhaust and airbox for now.
