I picked up a few goodies from Red Eft Performance. I'm not going to lie, we did run in to some issues with incorrect part numbers and I did end up getting the wrong part. What makes a good company or person for that matter is how things are handled when things go wrong. And I can happily say that once we realized that I had the wrong part, he corrected the problem quickly and I had the correct part in no time. Red has great prices and responds very quickly. I would not hesitate to do business with him again. So what you ask did I get?

I'm still on the fence about which cylinder kit to run first. Either way, I'm planning on keeping the other to run at a latter date. I was very interested to know the differences between the two. I was very sup prized to find out there not as different as I had thought. I put my wonderful girlfriend to work and here's the fruits of her labor.

You guys can thank her for these port maps. If someone here can make this complete and see if we can get port timings for the two cylinder kits.

I know the debate has gone on for a long time and everyone has there own preference, but what you guys run and why?

Thanks Donaudi.

Will need the deck height to figure out the timing.

did you do any block porting? i know my SYM has a mini boost port and really small intake ports.

Hopefully that CBR did not take him out of the game. I am glad I got rid of my ZX6R, nothing but trouble waiting to happen. He had a nice bike. Hopefully he pops back in.

donaudi wrote:I dove into the contents only to be disappointed. I actually thought she had purchased the contessa kit packaged in the corsa box. Why you ask. Well, the exhaust port was rough, transfer ports on the cylinder side were not straight, piston did not look graphite coated, spark plug was cheap, etc. After some investigation into the matter, I found I had the correct kit.

So begins the process of getting the parts up to specs.

Here's the exhaust port after a lot of hours working it. Notice it's still really rough. I used a dermal with those fiber sanding discs, hand sand with 2000 grit, and finial polish with buffer bit and some fritz polish. There was also a GP stamped into the side of the exhaust port. Does anyone else have this, or can someone confirm that this is normal?

Image

I herd the GP is the person who did the port work on the head? but im not sure if it's true.

I was also disappointed with the finish on the head by the spark plug recess. It was rough and had a sharp edge. Out came the wet/dry sand paper. I'm also going to try and smooth out the CNC ridges from the cylinder head surfaces later. I don't know if it will make a difference, but I figure it would make it harder for the carbon to stick to and lower the compression a hair.

I know this is old, so I don't know what kind of response I see, but regarding the Corsa and porting/polishing/cleaning up/etc, I was under the impression that this BBK already had work done by hand on it at Polini, which is what makes it different from the Contessa.

That being said, if the cylinder isn't really ported and cleaned up from Polini, is there any real reason to go with the Corsa over the Contessa? Is anything different? And when I buy this corsa am I going to have to clean up the exhaust ports etc? A little confused now.
